I want to be able to filter the spells by the type, since it is useful when you have specializations that can affect your spell choice based on the type you cast. I also have a need to isolate Necromancy spells in a different spellbook, which is highly situational but can be done with a simple filter.
At the top of any page there is a menu bar filled with various menus. Hover over Spells to open the Spells menu and then over Official and then By School. A submenu shows with the schools or type of magic. Click the one you want. See below image, I have highlighted the menu that lets you choose the spell school/type.
If you cannot hover due to the device used then you can click Spells menu, or the Official submenu to take you to an all spells list. While there you are given optons for spells and you reveal more by clicking Advanced Filters. In these Advanced Filters is a box for Spell School in which you can type the school or schools you want to limit the spells to, like Evocation or perhaps you're an Arcane Trickster wanting to limit to Illusion and Enchantment. The images below show where to click.
For Advanced Filters:
For entering the spell schools you want to filter to:
I hope this helps.

Related to this though is how I wish they would include this filtering when making homebrew: like a subclass option option the choice of a spell that must be taken from a specific school.
