Currently I can't select thieves' tools for my rogue expertise.
Will this ever get fixed?

the post you are replying to is from 30th June and this has been fixed since then.
I just checked it works just fine.
I created a Wood Elf Rogue and on the Rogue screen, I am able to select the two proficiencies the character has expertise with.
Thieves tools are on the list and I was able to select them just fine.
