We are in the process of moving our existing Phandelver campaign into D&D Beyond. Is there any way to import the pre-rolled characters into a new campaign and then we can tweak them from there with stats and inventory? It would save a TON of typing.
The ability to copy characters you don't own, which is needed in order to allow pre-made characters to be copied, is indeed something that's on the roadmap. For the time being, you can download the pregenerated characters and copy them into D&D Beyond.

With the character builder, it shouldn't take you too long.

If you are using PDF, you should be able to copy and paste a lot of it.
