I'm a dm for whom, both myself and my players, the older books (vgtm and mtf) have much greater appeal. I wish for the books to be purchasable and usable as normal, as I do not wish to have to upgrade to a master tier subscription just to be allowed to share these, as quite frankly, (to me) it feels like extortion.
Previously, one of my players has been sharing these on a basic subscription and I do not wish to ask him to upgrade his sub. I would much rather buy the books and sub myself if I could. This is causing our campaign some trouble atm and is making it hard to keep playing.
Hope my feedback matters in some way.
Public Mod Note
(Davyd):
Moved to general feedback as not an accessibility issue
This is something you probably have to direct at WotC directly. I very much doubt the people in charge of that decision read these forums.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.
Still, the fact remains that it was WotC, not DDB, that decided we can't get Volo's and Mordekainen's anymore. It's not just DDB. Print of the books has fully been ceased.

In the meantime, there might be a solution for you: If the player in question (who has the “books” here) is still in your campaign, if you get the master tier sub, and turn on content sharing, the books will be shared with the group. When content sharing is turned on, all content that anyone in the campaign has purchased is shared.
I am a bit confused about your statement that the player was sharing them with the “basic subscription.” The Hero Tier has never included content sharing.
All I know is the races are no longer available, same goes for several wildshapes the druid had and some of the monsters I was using for my encounters. And campaign sharing was and is still on, seems all the legacy content isnt available in the list of shared modules. If it's a thing and someone could walk me through how to enable legacy content, I'd appreciate it.
Edit; seems he does have master sub already. The content just isnt there and doesnt show where you tick off what to share and what not.
If Volo’s and/or MTOF were purchased by someone in your group before the change, they should still be available. The fact that they are not means something is off. ask the player with the master tier sub to check their entitlements (see link in my signature) and sync if it says they need to sync. Then they should turn content sharing off and back on again. If that doesn’t do it, have them check entitlements again, and then ask everyone in the campaign—including you—check entitlements.
that should resolve it. If it doesn’t, is it possible that the person who owned those books left the campaign?

DDB is great, but it could be better. Here are some things I think could improve DDB
I would, but all wotc customer support concerning dndbeyond is sent here anyways. Atleast according to WotCs own support pages.
