It’s a known issue, named in the first post of the main thread for Tasha’s. Currently they don’t have a way to do it without breaking the character sheet. It’s on the list to be addressed.
Yeah, they’re just going to have to bite the bullet and add full on Options to feats. I may be wrong, but I doubt adding the rest of the forms to like Modifiers, Spells, etc. to the options section of the feat generator is the complicated part. And I don’t think the problem is getting the character sheet to recognize the options correctly either. I am more than confident that the DDB design team is absolutely capable of the programming.
I think the problem they are dancing around is after they roll out the new code, what are they going to do about the millions and millions of character sheet which are using feats that shouldn’t actually exist, and migrate them to the actual feats with the appropriate Option preselected. What I mean are all of the “Feat (Selections)” feats that that they had to program out of necessity back in the beginning such as the three (extraneous) Spell Snipers, or the 5 (extraneous) Magic Initiates, etc.
They have shown recently with Favored Enemy that they are (finally) willing to fix what desperately needs fixing, even if it requires a little additional buy-in from us. And I’m all for it, “Hip Hip Huzzah!” and all that jazz. Because everyone will forget the few weeks it will take for mostly everyone to get switched because they’re only gonna remember the one or two characters they had to swap. And if they can roll a bunch of them out in close succession people will be more impressed at everything that’s suddenly being fixed than they would likely be annoyed about having to reselect a few options.
And if some folks here or there miss updating a feat on one of their character sheets, and then find/notice it months later it won’t be a big deal either because they already did it before and will know how, or because they don’t use that character often so. If anything it’ll be a funny “Ohh, yeah....” or at worst a disgruntled “Ohh, again....” There will be a few people who are currently hold up under their respective rocks somewhere who won’t have gotten the notice and will be very confused or annoyed, but they’ll get sorted out too. In the end, people will forget the transition phase, but this currently “things not working quite correctly” phase just seems interminable.
The eldritch adept feat in the character builder doesn't let you pick the invocation that goes with it.
