I am requesting that when choosing an option for Background we can limit the sources being used in the Character Builder. We are able to do this when choosing Race (by selecting the book from a dropdown); I think this would be beneficial for backgrounds as well (if my game only allows PHB say, I can easily just look at those despite having purchased more books). This actually would be beneficial in multiple places, including spells as well.
then again thinking a bit more, this might not make sense, as the PHB allows custom backgrounds and you could just "customize" a background from a different source.
There has been discussion of allowing something similar during the work on Campaign Management, where the DM could set which books are allowed within the campaign. There is a lot of work to do there on allowing granular permissions, but in a sensible and usable way.
Yeah I’m not talking so much as limiting, but when I create a new character I have the option to look at only the PHB or only Volo’s when choosing a race. I’m more or less asking for that option (on the player side, not the dm side) for the other sections
