I am looking to buy a dragon mini for my son. He really wants mini that casts a huge shadow on the table.
He isn't too concerned about base-plate size or adult vs ancient or huge vs gargantuan. (Or color really because paint)
He really likes the Norzuls adult white dragon that is at our FLGS. It costs $80-90.
I was trying to get a little more bang for our bucks. But it is next to impossible to get an accurate comparison of size on the internet because most posts focus on naming conventions or base plate. (Or maybe I am just bad at Google.)
Does anyone know how the Reaper mini Kalanzar measures up to the Norzuls?
Do a search for safari ltd dragon on Amazon. They are toys (not paintable mini figs), but they're roughly the right size and look really cool. They are also considerably cheaper, and still good quality. I have a couple I use for my games and they are awesome!
I recommend shopping Etsy for these types of things, at least to get a general idea of size. Most of the really big miniatures do require some assembly, but they're paint-customizable. I have a miniature of Kralkatorrik, which is an elder dragon from the game series Guild Wars 2 (and others), and this thing looms over the table to great effect versus the size of other miniatures.
The 5e adventure's Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden miniature, Chardalyn Dragon, is also quite freaking massive, lol. It is pricey and comes pre-painted, but it can be re-primed by creative artists and suitably painted other ways.

Or the Reaper mini T'raukzul?

The Reaper minis look pretty nice and for half the price it's a good deal. I just don't want him to be disappointed in the size at the table.
