Even harder is that in My Notifications, the threads are not ordered in most recent activity to least recent activity. It’s fairly chaotic. So each one has to be checked and it’s a disincentive to check.
I'm at about 10 hours now as well. It keeps changing (slowing down ATM). I did a manual check, slept, got up, and drove to work in less than 10 hours...

I wish it was different but here is how that works:
It is sorted by most recent, but same notification type (new comment, new thread, reply, etc) are grouped together. So it might go: comment 801, comment 900, comment 1000, reply 830, reply 1000, new thread 845. In that order. Hope that helps you see the patterns and not have to check as much.
For one brief shining moment everything was working again, now 3 hours behind. Even a stopped clock is correct once (or twice) a day. I guess someone kicked something and it briefly sputtered into life.
My notifications are hours off and erratic about what post they will show as new. Even the little dots that show a post as read or not don't work consistently. I can mark a thread, or an entire forum as read, and it will still immediately show dots again if I refresh the screen. I can mark the entire forum and all sub-forums as read and as soon as I refresh the page some posts will show dots on threads that are hours old. Look inside and the post itself will show as read. Brand new posts will fail to show dots, while causing the thread to show dots.
I have to check each forum, thread by thread, post by post, and only then will I discover that one of my posts have been replied to three hours ago. Or I will have read and responded to the post and still when I come back will be notified of that same very post from 3 hours ago.
I didn't check anything over the weekend, and most of the active threads I took part in have gone quiet. However, now my notifications are showing nothing at all (except this thread, funnily enough), even though I am now participating in new threads which have had activity.
I sent a Private Message an hour ago, and it was replied to 5 minutes later. It took the full hour for me to be notified. I was busily posting, and keeping an eye out for that response, so I can't have just not noticed the icon.
Yeah, it is getting old really fast. At about 10hr delay now for me
Same... this thread has been up for almost 3 weeks already. I'm getting pings way late, and then the same ping again and again even after having checked the thread... The only time the notifications are even halfway useful is when I check in in the morning so enough time has passed for, at least some, of my threads to actually be accurate.
I know server issues aren't easy to solve, and I'm not in IT... but I am a paying customer here, and this is really really frustrating when I can't reliably use the service for which I'm paying...
Interestingly, once again, I posted in this thread and the notifications caught up. Next time I'll mix it up and post here first thing, and see if it fixes it...
Definitely a rat in a box pressing a button for a treat now...

My notifications' speed is still changing. I had a 9 minute old notification earlier today, but right now I haven't received a notification for an hour old post yet.
Notifications still completely inaccurate by as much as a day, the little dot thingy is also nearly useless, slowing new posts in forums over and over when no such post exists.

I've steadily crawled from 11hrs down to 5hrs delay throughout the day. Hoping it'll pull another miraculous jump this afternoon...

I just got a notification within minutes... For this thread (Thoruk's post above). Nothing for anything else for a day, though.

Currently looks like I'm 5 hours behind, posting here early to see if it suddenly catches up...

Interesting, I have been more-or-less caught up for a while now.
I didn't want to jinx it, but my notifications have been on time (within 1 minute) for about 2 days now.
