It looks like several SCAG spells have fallen off availability for the Spell Sniper feat, namely green-flame blade and booming blade are both missing. I don't think it's a content on my account issue, because I can add both spells via Magic Initiate. These were available previously, but seem to have been removed in error. Thanks!
Spell Sniper allows you to take a Cantrip that requires an Attack roll and makes no distinction between either melee or spell attack. Well trod territory that this is allowed:
I checked further and the issue that was fixed was a different issue with those spells, that has subsequently meant that they have become ineligible for selection for the spell sniper feat (by accident). I'll discuss with the person who made the changes and we'll get this sorted.
I will note that it's a pretty specific use-case I can come up with where it's useful!
I'm guessing it revolves around the fact that the spell range is doubled up to 10ft and therefore Booming Blade can be used with a polearm attack at reach, causing the target to have to incur the booming blade damage to close in upon the polearm wielder.
If you merely wish to learn one of these spells, then the Magic Initiate feat is significantly better.
Indeed! They're both good feats (tempted by Absorb Elements for sure), but the idea is generally Booming Blade + Polearm Master + Warcaster for an area control Tempest Cleric build. If Booming Blade isn't allowed on Spell Sniper I can change things up or use a Homebrew version, just seems like it should be given the links above.
Umm.has anyone noticed that regardless of which cantrip you select, it doesn't appear in spells known? I noticed that while doing some NPC builds. It shows up in the feat, but doesn't calculate out. For example don't learn eldritch blast with intent of taking eldritch spear, you'll still end up with only a 120' range instead of the anticipated 600. If you swap it around and take something else and learn, you get the correct projected values. Just a BTW.
I have noticed. I think cantrips from any non-class source (looking at you racial features and feats) don't award the spell as a spell known. It just kind of dumps it into this weird middle ground.
Yes thank you but I've already added the Spell Sniper Feat but there is no where to add the additional Cantrip you gain from outside of your class, that is what I'm looking for?

If you're entering it from your edit levels page, you should see it pop-up when you choose the feat. If you're entering it from the character sheet, it should be in a collapsible menu on the sidebar.
yeah thanks I found it, if you add Spell Sniper as a class based replacement for Attribute Increase you won't see the spell choice it must be done as a Race based purchase

Neither of those spells makes an spell attack roll, they both add things to a melee attack.
Hi there Audelkaz,
you're correct - they were both available for the Spell Sniper feat previously, however this was an error and it has subsequently been resolved.
Apologies if this has caused you any issues with your characters!

Yes, but those two spells do not make an attack roll. Both add effects to weapon attacks, and are not spell attacks themselves.Oh Jeremy Crawford, how I disagree but must always bow to your whims.

Both spells have had their status as ranged attack spells restored.
We'll have to investigate a better way of correcting the issue of displaying them as a spell attack in the attacks section.

How do I add/select cantrips from other classes...??
Magic Initiate feat, Spell Sniper feat.

Huh? What I just showed above is showing either adding it ad hoc, or a level-up ASI replacement. You definitely do not have to do it by race........
Edit. A picture to show as much in one screenshot as possible. This is in the levels edit, where you would add a feat in place of an ASI.
Yeah I got it thanks...
