Last week, mid session, the dice rolling stopped working. Restarted chrome, no change. Since then I have record the MacBook, removed chrome and reinstalled it, striped all extensions, created a new dummy admin account, wiped all.cookies. Still not working.
Also, switched to other characters, all had dice rolling disabled. Reenabled it and still doesn't work. If I swap to another character then the previous one disables the dice rolling again.
Ok, common issue to be had, and if below isnt working then something is wrong. And please, can people STOP suggesting VPN or browser extensions, I have yet to see ANY issues associated with such on the SERVER end being the fault of those. They have as little as 1% to do with any issues as such. I have checked myself using VPNs and use a wide range of browser extensions that would even remotely cause such and that aint going to affect how the server saves information.
Go into ANY character sheet.
Click on 'Manage' up next to the Character Name to bring up the side window.
Click Character Settings
Make sure the switch on Dice Rolling is active, you should visibly see that they become active on the sheet, if they arent then you have a browser problem which may come down to security settings within the browser itself, however since you are seeing them enable, then disable on another sheet that aint even remotely an issue, just saying it can be. That should stay on with each character once turned on. Quickest way to see if it stays on is click the Builder icon and go into the character sheet, then click Home tab, if its off there then there is problem that is only applying on MacBook which DDB need to look into, since its not affecting PC or Android.
However once you switch Dice Rolling to Active they should stay on on all sheets I would normally say is a cookie issue, however Chrome saves all cookie related information in a format related to a site address and that would affect your login information being saved. Also if you never mess with how your cookies are worked within Chrome, just install and go, then you wouldnt have an issue. Which is why I growl when people go on about browser extensions and such and the OP has already POSTED they dont have any extensions running, hence it NOT being the issue and dice are suddenly working, then when switching to another character suddenly not working. It's a pet peeve of mine, it's called reading people! :D
I'm sorry that my eyes passed over the word extension. I saw the rest of them :(
I'm not sure I can disentangle your suggestions to the OP from the comments on pet peeves. I would like to have something clearer to be able to suggest next time I see someone having trouble with dice. There also seems to be some more specific trouble recently. I'm trying to gather what I can about what's going on.
I'm also on a MacBook - dice roller is not working on Chrome since Wednesday (10-Nov).
Have also tried on Safari however, currently I can't even get into character sheets to check whether the dice roller is working.
If it had been OS there would have been more people screaming about it not working, so it does look like there is has been a change made geared towards Chrome which Google hasnt caught onto. A single line of code just to annoy Chrome users and have them switch to the default Apple browser, not the first time to happen and wont be the last. It could also be just something aimed at a small number of websites. Such information saved is such as having something active is within the cookie settings saved for the app itself, could be just a security setting, specially when Apple love tightening their security settings towards more privacy. Suggestion there is, and I dont know Apple products enough to know where such is located, is to look to see on how to relax the security settings within Chrome to allow the dice overlay settings to be saved.
PS: Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling an application/program wont remove the setting saved for said app/program and therefore it reads the old settings and enforces them on the new reinstallation. That also includes any advanced settings done on an OS security side, not just related to that app itself. Could just be a program name with file extension added to a database list.
Thanks for the suggestions, I had tried the character sheets and set them to dice rolling activated but they disable when i change character sheet.
I have cleared cookies, removed chrome and manually deleted any residual trace of it. Removed all extensions, there is no VPN running and I created a new blank user account with fresh chrome install to eliminate chrome extensions and chrome corruption.
I guess at this point I will have to wait and see if a patch of some sort overwrites whatever messed things up for me!
Dice rolling just abruptly stopped working today. (MacBook Air, Chrome) The switch is still on, and dice rolling still works on Safari. It looks like there was maybe a Chrome update swapped in today or very recently, so maybe that's it?
Anyone else having the same issue? If it's just me, then it must be something that happened during the multiple reloads I did while trying to get my homebrew magic item to update? I've never had trouble before today, and now dice rolling just plain doesn't work for any character in Chrome.

Chrome did actually put through an update within the past 72 hours since that was the last time I saw the update button, and looks like they may have done another since when I went to my 'About Google Chrome' it did a download and install of a new update. So for it to abruptly stop working sounds like Google may have made a change to how the cookie is working, sometimes done when a security update is done, and with Apple's privacy side it didnt like it, might be something for the DDB team to check into and see what changes were made so its something they can fix for the future, but when it comes to Apple and privacy that is fun and games in itself.
Edit to add, Chromes version on Windows is now "Version 100.0.4896.60 (Official Build) (64-bit)"
I didn’t see the button to role the dice , found in settings “electronic dice roll” turned it on, and the button showed up in the corner for less than a second and the setting turned back off
First off, the problem, for me is currently solved but I am adding this post as it may be of assistance to others and to the devs in tracking this issue.
I have had this issue crop up a number of times. I have Window 10, MS Edge as browser, no Beyond20 extension and sometimes the dice roller stops working, sometimes in midgame. This time, at time of posting I noticed that it was while generating a character and trying to use dice rolling for stats.
I tried to force refresh the page, clear the cache for the dndbeyond.com site, switch on and off the dice rolling option and the only thing that seemed to work is switching to the basic dice.
I can roll dice in the Encounter tools and in the phone application.
Last time it happened I was using the 2024 PHB dice set, and I switched to the Beyond Dice set. This time I was using that and the dice started working when I switched to the Basic Black Set.
Does not currently work when I have selected the Beyond Dice Set, the Dice of True Color, all other dice sets seems to work fine. The Dice of many Things are very cool as are the Lrgo and Rod of Seven Parts set.
I should also add, that in last nights session, the number face up on the dice image and the number reported to the combat log did not match on a number of occasions.
While I never use the character sheet on my phone, I did check it when troubleshooting this issue and the phone character sheet seems to use a build in dice that is not affected by the dice selected on the website.
Selecting dice from the phone app does not solve the issue with dice sets that do not respond to request for a roll from the web browser character sheet.

Running out of ideas to try now...
Are you using any browser extensions or VPN? What happens if you try logging in from an incognito/private browser window?
Have you tried with a different browser?

I'm running a MacBook myself and haven't experienced any issues in Safari. What version of MacOS are you folks using?
Catalina 10.15.7
Same OS as me so I don't think that's the issue then.
I'm running out of ideas too, hopefully DDB staff will find something if it's affecting a bunch of people.

Hi, I have the problem that the marker for dice rolls, just jumps back to the original position. And its not possible to roll online.
I didn’t see the button to role the dice , found in settings “electronic dice roll” turned it on, and the button showed up in the corner for less than a second and the setting turned back off
