I have personally started making the switch to a certain VTT that starts with 'R'.
On top of removing A la carte, they've also broken the BeyondImporter API script.
With 'R' coming out with a new character sheet and doing so much to improve their service, I've decided to fully make the switch. I still pay monthly here (for top subscription), but as soon as I can, I'm moving on...hopefully by January. But I am not buying any more product here. As a member, I will still use what I already own, but that's it now.

Another person here grossed out by this attempted money grab. Wanted a class to use for a 1 shot and I'm not buying an entire book for that, so I guess I'll have to go somewhere else rather than give them what was once a reasonable amount for the a la cart options.
Wow, what a terrible, greedy, disheartening decision. Was just getting back into DnD after a 30 year hiatus, buying a few a la carte digital items to access content I had in physical copies. Came back to a new shop and plenty of confusion. Now I won't spend a dime here. Sad.
They should bring back a la carte, we shouldn't be forced to purchase the entire book just to get any content. We personally have stopped supporting them and have been protesting on their social medias like fb about it every day since it's been taken away so please feel free to add support elsewhere. More voices everywhere helps. They took away options and an additional way to gain financial support that doesn't seem like smart decisions to me. Our group didn't use majority of the content so it doesn't make sense to pay for so much we'd never use and weren't ever interested in. There's only a few things we ever used and wanted and used to support content from all the books. Currently not subscribed anymore because they took it away.
Just adding that yeah, I used to buy the new races+subclasses in every new release. I don't care about monsters and spells and items because I just enjoy trying out weird character combos. I don't need the whole book and I'm not ever going to buy a whole book. So now, instead of getting a pretty reliable purchase from me with every new release, they get nothing. I haven't canceled my sub yet, but it's probably only a matter of time if they keep taking away things that make me want to stick around.
I implore them to reconsider... I would pay for individual races, classes and backgrounds but definitely not an entire book. People do not like to waist their money, which this would be, especially with their pricing.
Just figured this out the hard way trying to buy a new class to try. More than happy to spend a couple of dollars on individual things as I need them, but buying the whole sourcebook when all I want is one subclass? Not happening. I really hate to say it because I used to use DNDBeyond exclusively, but I really don't see any reason to spend money on this platform anymore.
What a silly decision. I would happily spend £30, or even £60, right now on all the individual races and classes that I want access to. But I’m not going to spend £30 to get 10% of the ones I want, only to spend another £30 to get other 10%… Hasbro, bring this feature back and me and many many others will give you our money. Don’t and we won’t, simple as.
I had already purchased a bunch of stuff individually that I paid for and now don't have access to its ridiculous
While they did take away the ability to buy individual items, which was a bad decision in my opinion, they have not taken away any of the individual things people bought before that. You still have access to all your purchased content.
A few weeks ago I would agree with you however when I went to make an oath of vengeance pally today it was missing and I've made one before still under my characters tab so don't know why it's missing now

This is likely because you're using the 2024 version of the Paladin class but you don't own the 2024 PHB.
Use the 2014 (legacy) version of the class instead and you'll have access to all the legacy stuff that you've purchased in the past.
So, I'm gonna have to buy the entire 2024 PHB just to get a subclass that I need? The one that I had already purchased ala carte for 2014 is absolutely useless to me in 2024.

You can still use the 2014 subclass you purchased with the 2014 version of the class.
To use content from the 2024 Player's Handbook, you do have to buy the book.

Yes, I know that. But my DM is going to 2024 so the 2014 stuff does me no good for that.
This type of situation is what D&D Beyond's content sharing system is for. If your DM has a master-tier subscription, they can share all the content they own with players who join a campaign they're running.

Create a Homebrew version if you have the book. Check the Homebrew someone else may have created one.

Wow. Just tried to buy a class to use for campaign im in and only just noticed its not longer allowed...
That is the last money they get from me. Awful decision. They'll lose out on so much money.
I have purchase the book ( the real physical thing ) and now I have to purchase a subclass again since I do not own it digitaly
So sad...
