The "Other Possessions" tab, which has the free-form text area for equipment notes that do not fit into the main equipment area, is only visible to the owner of the character sheet. It is not visible when the sheet is shared (with my GM).

Not sure why you need to share it with your GM when they can just see the full version normally anyway?

best thing to do is get your DM to set-up a campaign on D&D Beyond and send you an invite - when your character joins that campaign, the DM will be able to access and see all details.
My DM is not a heavy DNDBeyond user, and hasn't (yet) created the campaign for it. So, he hasn't created a campaign but is willing to use my online CS instead of a downloaded version.
So, sure, it would be a lot easier if he had a campaign, and he may in the future, but I don't see the design reason why this feature is withheld on the character sheet for public viewing.
Its been a hot minute since this was originally posted, but... under equipment click manage equipment, then click the drop down for custom item, then "+ Add custom item". this will create an unidentified item 1. click those words to rename the item, set its weight, etc...
