The Warlock at level 14 is messed up when it comes to their spell slows. It says that I only should have 11 spells prepared, even though the previous level gave me 12, and I only have access to pick from 1st through 3rd level spells. 4th through 5th are no longer available.
It feels kind of insane to release this book, marketing its compatibility and ease of use with the dndbeyond web app, and then note in a massive (and obscure) forum post that like half of the stuff actually doesn't work. They may as well have said "The Warlock class is unsupported" with so many of the invocations just being entirely nonfunctional. Feats on my end are not adding their stat bonuses to the character sheet, necessitating manual overrides to character stats. New mechanics that are everywhere in the character options, like rolling hit dice for healing outside of a short rest and having minimum rolls for certain dice, are entirely unsupported despite having a whole playtesting period to update the app and minimum roll values having been a thing since 2014 with rogue's reliable talent. If they couldn't add in basic features like that in the 7 full years that the app has been out I do not trust them to add in these features with more than band-aid solutions and those bare minimum fixes are going to come over the course of years.
It looks like some Partner content is missing from 2024b character creation options- .
The Circle of the Blighted is not showing up as an option for the 2024 druid (Critical Role is on for the player, and we refreshed the books in the campaign too) and the circle doesn't show up in the drop down list.
As the new classes are backwards compatible - we’ve ensured that all the previous subclasses from books published by Wizards of the Coast work without any issues for the 2024 classes.
Furthermore - it’s included with the book they originally appear in - and will be granted to the owners of those books retroactively.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
This is in regards to subclasses from 3rd parties such as CR, Kobold Press, etc.
I'm bringing this forward for those who either didn't read the whole post at the front or just seemed to miss it.
We also have to realize that early access doesn't mean "issue free" for those who've played BO6 early access/beta the past week that should be prevalent. More than likely most if not all of the issues stated since the release of the early access could possibly be fixed come Tomorrow (Sep. 10th 2024) for those who will receive access through Hero status. The real concern will be when it officially goes live on the 17th, if none of the issues are fixed by then (with the exception of 3rd party content) then I could understand why it would be warranted of bashing the idea of early access. I'm just as frustrated as I'm sure many of you are, the only thing we can do is inform them of the issues and hope they'll be resolved by official release.
I'm bringing this forward again as it seems people just gloss over the first post in the thread as well as replies to other comments on 3rd party content.
Confused: I have access to the new Player Handbook, but can't seem to see all the backgrounds in the Character Builder. I only see Acolyte, Criminal, Sage and Soldier. Anyone else? (I'm trying to find the Guide background).
When will Tasha's optional features be enabled for 2024 classes? Not every class had their optional features reprinted in the 2024 PHB, therefore Tasha's options should be valid for those.
Still missing a good chunk of the Critical Role content, certain Eldritch invocations such as Lessons of the First Ones, Eldritch Spear, Agonizing blast and repelling blast don't let you select the proper things.
He seems to have 2 extra fears that I cannot delete
He has savage attacker from soldier, and feytouched as his 4th level feat.
But there is also fury of the frost giant and superior technique there and I can't for the life of me figure out why?
Any help would be appreciated so I can stop fighting with my newbie player that he cannot have those feats 😂
I get an error and can’t view the sheet when clicking on the link but did he just manually add them and try to pull a fast one? You can add feats from your character sheet by going to features, then feats, then just clicking add (similar to how you would manage spells). If the character is in your campaign you should be able to check that and just remove them.
I am able to add spells to my spell list that I already have from my subclass. (I have bane for my oath of vengeance paladin, but can still choose bane from the paladin spell list). I shouldn't be able to do that. It's confusing for new players. Get it together Wotc.
I know it has been mentioned a few times, but will we be getting an official word on what we will have to do with 2014 homebrew subclasses? Even if it's a "No we can't update 2014 subclasses" I just don't want to start re-creating ALL of my homebrew subclasses for it to then eventually update. Thanks.
I really want to know this one too. I have a Pact of the Talisman Warlock that I can't update. They have options for Legacy Species, Subclasses, Feats, Spells, Equipment, and more, but the Invocations fell off the back of the truck. Between this and how the many of the CURRENT Invocations are 'unsupporter', it is clear that Warlocks got the short end of the update.
I am aware that we are in the 'early access' right now, but I hope they get things ironed out by the 'general release'.
As of release, the Pact of the Talisman is still unsupported on the 2024 Warlock with expanded rules.
The Expanded Feats selections are not restricted to specific species/race in the 2024 builder. I tested using a Dwarf species and it lets me choose any species/race feat, such as Drow (High Magic), etc.
I have the Use Prerequisites: Feats toggle enabled too. It's just not limiting the choices as it should be.
There is a problem with the Rangers or paladins' fighting style options. When you go to pick fighting style, it gives the options of druidic/blessed warrior and fighting style feat. But if you pick the fighting style feat, there is nothing there to pick.

This is far from official, but this is my "educated guess" based on personal experience working with the DnDBeyond Homebrew system:
I suspect that—if I understand your query correctly—if you have created a homebrewed subclass for any of the classes in the 2014 PHB and you want that subclass to work with the updated version of that same class in the 2024 PHB, you will have to create another entirely-new homebrewed subclass for the 2024 version of that class.
This is because when you now go to create a new homebrew subclass, you are presented with a drop-down list and asked to "Select a class to create a new Subclass for". In that drop-down list, classes are divided into 4 categories: Core Rules (which includes the classes as described in the 2024 rules), Expanded Rules (only the Artificer), Legacy (including those in the 2014 rules), and Critical Role (only the Blood Hunter).
This tells me that, technically speaking, different versions of classes on DnDBeyond have been designed such that the 2014 Ranger is just as different and distinct "under the hood" from the 2024 Ranger as it is from the 2014 Wizard, or any other class for that matter.
Sorry to disappoint, but that's my best assessment of the situation.
hi so one of our players bought the 2024 handbook and shared it with us (his party) but when we went to make new characters using the 2024 rules, they are not available. only core rules and legacy 2014 are available. what do we need to do to fix this??
Try creating a campaign and check if content sharing is active. They will also need the more expensive subscription category, IIRC.

Came here to say the same thing. Same with Species. Was trying to create a druid but couldn't find the species or background I wanted. I like the new backgrounds. They're now consistent and add a lot of abilities and flavor.
Initially I thought it was because I was using a shared PHB2024 so I bought it. Same thing.

This seems to be 100% accurate. The classes are coded as separate entities for the 2014 and 2024 versions, and homebrew hasn't been said to be something they're moving forward automatically.
There seems to be an echo in here. And it's saying the same thing people have been saying for weeks about a class that wasn't updated in the slightest at this point. (Hint: Artificer isn't Core Rules and, to access the new spells with it, you'll need to homebrew them. Likely until the major bugs are addressed, because as of now, that's not a bug.)

Hi there,
I searched for this specific issue but could not find anything.
I have linked one of my players characters sheet here:

He seems to have 2 extra fears that I cannot delete
He has savage attacker from soldier, and feytouched as his 4th level feat.

Thank you for pointing this out. Much appreciated
