I am trying to build a tempest cleric for a new player, but the option is not in the character builder. I had read you need the PHB, but the 2014 PHB is no longer available (that would unlock it), and it is not in the 2024 PHB. Can anyone give some insight into how I can get this for my player?

If you are outside the us you can't directly order at dndbeyonnd. Instead you get forwarded to D&D store | Offizieller Online-Shop. There is only a "2014 rulebook bundle" avaialble that costs 150€. Otherwise the 2014 rulebook is not available.

That's unfortunate, but there's not really anything we can do about it here. This thread was accurate when it was posted (almost a year ago now).
I am having the same issue. I have all the sources turned on and I have had the players handbook (2014) shared. Yet, the only subclass showing up as available is the Life Domain. Can anyone help me? I am in the US by the way.

I'm also having this issue! Please if anyone can help find a way around this, then it'd be super helpful
so same issue here as well and it sounds like the moderator doesn't understand whats going on either since they keep sending the same link asking if its in sync.
before the mod sends the same thing
Yes It is In sync Yes i own it yes 5e Core Rules is enabled
I even tried making an entirely new character sheet with 5e only when i select the cleric it gives me these options
Life Domain, Forge Domain, Grave Domain, Order Domain, Peace Domain, Twilight Domain
only using 5e and i cant access any others besides these 6 subclasses everything is enabled i can look at legacy spells i can look up subclasses through the portal and look at it through the book i just cant select it.

At the risk of stating the obvious: are you sure you actually own the 2014/5e Player's Handbook, rather than just having access through content sharing?
What you're describing is exactly what it would look like if you owned Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Xanathar's Guide to Everything, but only had access to the PHB through content sharing and were making a character outside of the campaign where that book is shared. In that situation, you'd be able to see the non-free subclasses from the PHB in the digital book and on the individual class page, but you wouldn't be able to use them in the character builder.

That or there’s numerous reasons that might cause it to not appear, and I don’t know which of those a user has checked if they don’t say so.
Have you confirmed on this page that the 2014 PHB is listed under Current Product Licenses? If it’s not there, that would explain why you don’t see it. https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses

The digital version of the 2014 is still available as far as I can tell:
2014 Player's Handbook
Lee
None of the 2014 content has been removed. The 2014 PHB is still available for purchase here: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/category/players-handbook?pid=SRC-00002
You will need to turn on "Legacy Rules" in the Home tab to access anything from it in the character builder.

Is this character assigned to the campaign that's sharing that book?
Is 2014 Core Rules enabled for this character?
Did you choose the right class? If you want a 2014 Life Cleric, you need to start with the 2014 Cleric --
, not

Do you own the 2014 PHB? Is it listed on that same page under Current Product Licenses?
If it’s shared with you instead, is this character assigned to the campaign that's sharing it?
Is 5e Core Rules enabled for this character?
