my PG has the Magic Initiate (Cleric) feat, but the 1st level spell chosen displays only the USE option. I can't cast it at the same level or another using the spell slots like I do, for example, with Detect Magic from my Elven lineage.
Feats cannot add spells that use spell slots. Only races/species and subclasses can.
Just check the spell slot off manually.
If the spell has upcastable effects like additional damage etc and you want to show that you can make a homebrew version of the subclass to add that "use with slots" function. I made a video based on fey/shadow touched feats but the principle is the same:

I though about that too. But Magic Initiate states: "Level 1 Spell.Choose a level 1 spell from the same list you selected for this feat’s cantrips. You always have that spell prepared. You can cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to cast it in that way when you finish a Long Rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have." I interpret that I can use any spell slots that I want. Exactly like I do for the Elven lineage, which it states "When you reach character levels 3 and 5, you learn a higher-level spell, as shown on the table. You always have that spell prepared. You can cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to cast it in that way when you finish a Long Rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level." The wording is almost identical, and "of the appropriate level" is there because the lineage unlock spells of various levels. So, for me is the same: the feat unlocks a spell that I can cast using the spell slots that I want. Or I am getting that wrong?
When I said feats cannot do spells that use spell slots, I meant it's a D&D Beyond thing. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. The system currently doesn't allow it so until they update the tools, all we have are the workarounds at this time. It's a known issue, but it may be a while before they get to it.

Yeah, a simple but good solution. :)
And thank you for the video too!
You're interpreting the rules correctly.
