We switched from the 2014 to the 2024 rules, but as DM, I have the issue that in our adventure (Dungeon of the Mad Mage), all the hover text is using the legacy rules.
For example, if I hover over a monster, spell or rule, the popup uses the 2014 description. Is there a place where I can change this setting? It is very troublesome to look up all these information manually in the index and renders the whole "hover text system" useless in this form.
2014 books will reference 2014 things. Some tooltips may show both rules but this could not be done for every tooltip. There would be two ways around this: have all tooltips only use 2024 rules regardless of book : this was something originally planned and there was a massive backlash over it, so they didn't go this route to avoid losing the majority of existing customers. The other route is make a copy of every book, one that uses 2014 tooltips and another that would use 2024 rules and no longer match printed versions of books which would go against D&D Beyond's stance of matching official books It would also be a massive amount of work and cost. So, not a viable solution either.
There are no other solutions that would be sensible. So, the books were not updated : the general rule now being a 2014 book is going to refer to the 2014 rules most of the time while 2024 books will refer to 2024 rules.
It is a slight inconvenience to a DM but given how easy it is to reference rules in the rules glossary, the inconvenience is minimal.

Thank you for the answer. I'll keep using several tabs open then. It's an inconvenience to not being able to select on a profile base which rules to use, but it's manageable I think. :)

Hi all,

Thank you in advance!
Not a bug - this is intentional behaviour.
