Pact Seeker background gives an ability boost and the character creator also toggles an ability boost. This gives an additional +3 to abilities at lvl 1. Looks like a simple bug fix there.

I chose Reborn, so maybe it’s Legacy species causing this. I don’t see it with the 5.5e official species so far.

ModeratorYeah, that looks like a bug that appeared for all species from that book, not an issue with the background itself. I'll let the devs know.
In the meantime, I'd just leave that second choice unselected.

Mixing 2024 backgrounds with 2014 species will do this. It's not the app, it's the rules.
No, the rules (see here) specifically say that you're not meant to get double ability bonuses from this situation. D&D Beyond has tried to enforce this, but in some cases it appears to have been done incorrectly.
