I am currently playing a Cleric using 2024 Rules. Upon going from second to third level, I noticed a "stray" Cantrip on my character sheet (i.e., it doesn't show when I am first or second level). It does not appear if I select either War or Trickery Domains. It only seems to appear if I select Life or Light.
The cantrip appears to be a Homebrew of Water Whip. When I "Leave" the campaign in DNDBeyond, the spell also disappears from my sheet.
I cannot delete the spell from my list as it generates a 500 Error upon doing so. I get the following:
"Whoops! We rolled a 1 on our API check. We're heading into town to visit the blacksmith for repairs. Try again after a Short Rest."
FWIW, the character is a Human with MI: Wiz and MI: Druid as origin feats.
Any help would be appreciated. Here is the spell description:
Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: 20ft.
Components: V, S(water)
Duration: Instantaneous
Version:
You conjure a whip of water and lash out at a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 slashing or bludgeoning damage (your choice). The water whip can also extinguish non-magical flames in its path.
Cantrip Upgrade
The damage increases by 1d10 when you reach levels 5 (2d10), 11 (3d10), and 17 (4d10).
When you make a homebrew spell there is a box "Available for Class(es)" and in that box you can select classes and subclasses to make the spell available for them. For subclasses, however, it will treat the spell like a domain spell or similar and forcibly add the spell to anyone who has selected that subclass. So, if they added "Life Domain" subclass then the spell will automatically add to the character sheet if Life Domain is selected for a cleric.
Because homebrew is automatically shared with everyone in the same campaign this means the spell will add to all character sheets in that campaign that have the relevant subclass.
For this reason it is best to never select an official subclass in that 'Available For' box and should only use it for homebrew subclasses only.
You will need to find out who made the spell and tell them to edit it / remove it from collection / delete it, due to it being coded incorrectly and advise them of what I said above.
