My players discovered that they can see names of my monsters even if I have hidden the name. They just have to hover over the picture in the initiative carousel, and it pops up. Could this be fixed? It has kind of spoiled a couple of my surprises...
Don't add hidden monsters to initiative. If they're hidden they're not in combat yet. So only add them when they're ready to be active in combat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think they mean the "Hide token name" aspect which removes the name from a displayed token that's in combat. Hidden Tokens don't appear in the Initiative Carousel.

This does sound like a hole in their design (as opposed to an actual code error).
I can recommend what I do, in the meantime. Before we could hide tokens, I would rename the creatures to things like "Mysterious Figure", and then clear the name when I wanted to reveal their identity. Yes, it's a bit annoying, but it's a good workaround.
@Perringaiden is correct. I meant the name is hidden but the character token is visible. It's along the lines of "you see strange figure emerge and it sends a blast of arcane energy at the dwarf" without the players being able to read its exact title. Narratively at this point they don't know the opponent's full name. I think for now I will do as @Perringaiden suggests (thanks!), even though I wish DNDB would fix it. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to program -- something like "if name is hidden on token don't display when mouse hovers on that character in the initiative carousel."

Ah, whoops. I misread. Thanks for the correction.

Howdy,
