I'm trying to create a homebrew class for a fallen star (like in the movie Stardust) race. I checked subraces, created a few, and tried to publish the race so I could ask for commentary/balance/suggestions. However, it couldn't because it said :
This Race cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons:
This homebrew Race has been set to have subraces, but no subraces have been created.
However, I have several subraces for it. So I tried publishing them first, which it did just fine. But then I tried to publish the parent race and still get the error.
I can use the subraces in my character creation process, so maybe this is the way it's supposed to work? You only publish the subraces, never the parent race? What happens if you want to update the parent race?
Oh my goodness! Thank you! I was... perplexed to say the least. :D Especially since the sub races appeared to work normally without a published parent race!

Any idea what's going on?

Homebrew that you have created always checks its eligibility for publication when it is SAVED - it doesn't otherwise re-run the check at any point.
At the point where you last saved your homebrew race "Celestial Avatar" I expect that you hadn't created the subraces, hence the message in red.
I opened the race and hit the save button and the red text message has gone.
I understand the confusion and this does need to be communicated better.
