So I've published a cleric subclass without any issues, however whenever I try to make a paladin subclass I always get the following note on it
This Subclass cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons:
This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass.
Now I assume that's referring to my oath spell list, which I added as ''additional specific spells'' just like how you're supposed to which is exactly how I did it with my earth domain subclass too and I had no problems publishing that subclass, but for whatever reason when it comes to the paladin subclass I simply cannot publish it because of adding oath spells.
Am I just doing something wrong or is this a bug of some sorts?
actually no that's not the case. My cleric subclass has spells from elemental evil and PHB,but it had no problems getting published, only paladin subclasses seem to require basic rules

Elemental evil content is also free. Spells in basic rules are also printed in PHB.
All homebrew is checked for eligibility for publishing on a number of factors - one of these is "linked content"
All users have free access to content from the SRD, Basic Rules & EEPC (Elemental Evil Player Companion). Any content from those sources may be used as part of your homebrew and then published.
If you use content from other sources, then the system will display the message you mentioned and prevent publishing.
The reason for this is because the homebrew would only be functional for users who have access to the content you've used.
I'm hoping that, when the homebrew revamp happens, that this restriction will be removed and all published homebrew will include a list of any content that needs to be unlocked to use it. For now though, it is necessary.

Especially since there are official subclasses and backgrounds that link to non-SRD spells.

I'm guessing your earth domain cleric's domain spells were all in the basic rules, and your paladin's oath spells aren't.
You can only add spells in the basic rules to public homebrew. It's annoying, but thats the rule.
Oh wait really? That's so annoying but now it makes sense

Basically, this (https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells?filter-source=1&filter-source=4) is the list of spells you can use in homebrew.
