Using the 5e rules and wayfinders guide(purchased conted), at 3rd level I should be able to add an additional archetype to my character, yet that option does not show up anywhere on the character sheet.
yeah the option isn't there. Running a warforged Cleric started with warforged domain, at level 3 should be able to add a new archetype, but it doesn't show. Not sure if it is just specific to the race/class but it seems to be a bug.
You only get one archetype per class on your character. For the Cleric you choose your archetype at 1st level. In some other classes you choose your archetype at the 3rd level in that class.
You can see more on that in the Class Features for the Cleric. Your archetype comes from "Divine Domain" which is a 1st level feature.

D&D Beyond FoundersClick on the character name and select "MANAGE LEVELS" from the dropdown menu - you'll find all the options you're looking for there.

You don't get to pick an archetype at level 3 for a cleric. You pick the "divine domain" at level 1.
That would explain it. ;-) New to 5e so wasn't quite sure.
