I have a player that doesn't have a Google account (due to a mild case of technophobia) doesn't want one.. is there a way to Sign-In/Create an account without a Google or Twitch account? Just a standard email (such as hotmail or yahoo) ??? I am trying to get them to use the character creator, since they are having a lot of issues understanding why certain things work/add-up the way they do just from the books.
We tried to create an account in three different up-to-date browsers and couldn't seem to find a page or option to create an account for them that did NOT include Twitch or Google integreation. Hopefully there is a link somewhere I am missing?
To be honest, there's little difference in terms of data usage between making a random hotmail email (which will create a microsoft account) and a gmail account

Establish boundaries. And if anyone crosses them, speak up. If they don’t listen, there’s always cloudkill …
I think it is planned to be able to create an account with just an email, but they haven't added that yet.
This is very, very unlikely to happen.
We live in a world where there are increasingly sophisticated tools available to breach system security. This is a major part of the reason why authentication frameworks exist - those providing the authentication system to invest time & money to ensure that it is secure.
For the D&D Beyond team to invest in creating and maintaining their own authentication service would be a major investment. It's not about money - it's about all the different areas of the site this would affect and likely setback of other planned features.

This is such a good point
From a security standpoint, it's much smarter to leverage an existing framework, such as Googles or Twitches (which is actually built on the Amazon framework) than to build your own.
Think of it this way; would it be a better investment of time with a better quality of security to go to the store and buy a chubb or yale lock for your door, or to try and build your own door lock by hand?

Ok, I made her character in my account (so she could get all the stats correct). But if I let her refernce that character under my login durning the game she can see all my DM notes... right?
Or can she just use the phone app to view the Character only while playing?
Sorry I am new to DMing with a tool like this.. and while trying to make it easier for my player I feel like she is making it harder on me. *sigh.
Worse case sinairio I will just print the sheet and she can read the notes with another PC.. But just trying to understand the best option...
I was with her just using the character creator. So she could print out a character sheet. Not like I gave her my login credentials. But I was thinking she could use the character I created on the app if she had a free account, but she is not willing to own a google or twitch account linked to this service. I think she may have have personal data stolen from 3rd party pluggin's in the past which is why she is having this issue. I assume that's the very same reason D&D Beyond wants this intergation to avoid things like that.
Oh well, just thought I'd ask thanks for the help and all the info.
From a security standpoint, it's stupid to limit your email to a single cloud based email service provider, especially one with a history of failing to protect user data. Especially since you do it through L2P linking, which is extremely unsecure.
It's also not dndbeyond's job to tell users how to protect their accounts or what email they can use. Considering google just rolled out a decision to make 2FA mandatory with your cell phone (yet another personal information grab for one of the two most sought after pieces of personal info for advertisers) I think you'll find pretty quick that this is a bad decision. The best thing you can do to protect your account remains to just not give out your password or personal information, and have a strong password. Even 2FA fails miserably unless it's done with encryption key hardware designed for it, which is expensive and limited to a handful of large companies such as the US Military.
I've already moved all my accounts over to protonmail, as millions of users are now doing, and removing the link to the old gmail which as far as I'm concerned, is dead. Guess dbb is going to die too.

I looked over the forums and saw one person said it was possible, but no further information on how or where was provided:

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Nope, you can only login with twitch or google.

That's a violation of the sites terms of services regarding allowing others to use your login credentials.
If you do this, and allow someone other that yourself to use your login credentials, they will obviously be able to see everything you would.
At this point, why not just make them their own twitch account and give them that to use?
