Made a new sorcerer to mess around with and picked a copper dragon as my ancestor. My affinity in the builder came up first as cold, then when I cleared and repicked it, lightning. It should be acid i believe.
Edit: sorry I explained that slightly wrong, but it should be fixed now.
Edit 2: okay it does work when i level the sorc up to 6, but when looking ahead from lower levels it seems to be random.
It is weird that looking at higher levels doesn't check your choices so far. But as long as the features you have a current level are correct, at least it is minor.
Looks like the problem is still occurring. Regardless of level it still seems to be randomly assigning an elemental affinity not related to the colour of the dragon ancestor

You prompted me to do so more testing and it looks like the error is only apparent in the edit levels screen. Once you stop editing and go to the normal character sheet it seems to correct itself
Ok the obsessive nature in my has meant I've been playing with this non stop since I woke up. The issue seems to have resolved itself altogether on the test character I linked and I'm not sure what's triggering the error in the class features screen
From what I can tell the random damage type seems to only show incorrectly in the character edit screen when the feature is shown as 'future levels' or whatever. Once you are actually levelled past the feature it seems to be fine
It's still broken to some extent. The builder says lightning for a black dragon but the sheet is correct and says acid. The character is 13th level. Here's the link - https://ddb.ac/characters/17114713/wZoIp7. As a DM when I look at the builder screen for the character it's saying Cold. When my wife looks at her character it says lightning. Fix please?
The issue in diplaying the wrong affinity in the builder is a caching issue where you select the ancestor, level up to 6 or more, then change your mind and choose a different ancestor: the affinity bit remains unchanged. This is because it caches it. If you go to the sheet or just refresh the page, it will be resolved. If you are levelling individually and never change the ancestor type, this issue doesn't occur.
This is a limitation of how browsers and memory work, not a bug. It is possible to use different code and not use caching but that eats at the server bandwidth. Unless you want a loading popup/screen every time to select something?
The affinity that gets shown on the sheet is correct - I have tested all options, all give the correct affinity.

I didn't post the same thing. I mentioned it was broken in both threads, one comment was more details than the other. I didn't waste anyone's time by pretending to be a moderator and copying and pasting THE SAME THING from one thread to another.
Odd, I only see Elemental Affinity (Fire) each time I reload that sheet. How do you replicate this bug?
Not sure, because it was random. At first it said fire, then switched to acid after reload, and I couldn't get it to change again after that (staying acid).

I agree its pretty low on the impact side of risk assessment. Just wanted to point it out and maybe test it a bit to help the devs out. =)

For my character it is doing the same thing. It changes seemingly randomly when I refresh.

I'm having this same problem. I'm gold draconic bloodline, should be fire. It's bouncing between acid, lightning, cold, and fire.
