I'd really like to be able to search directly from Firefox's address bar while DMing. It would it a lot smoother than opening a new tab, navigate to dndbeyond.com, then searching.
From what I can tell, the site has code in place to add a search engine to the browser. However it's definitely broken (see screenshots).
For that matter, Google searching by site will only turn up basic rules, forums, and homebrew (there is no way to filter out homebrew). It would be nice if it were possible to do any form of proper search on this site.
Could you ask content team to add improving search and filter functionality to to-do list? And for unread notifications to not start being removed when they exceed 20?
These are a few of my biggest gripes, partly because other sites and forums had better versions 12+ years ago.
The message is from Firefox, but it reflects what it sees on D&D Beyond. The pages on dndbeyond all declare opensearch functionality (pulled from Chrome for the benefit of the doubt):
<link rel="search" href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/opensearch.xml" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" title="D&D Beyond - An official digital toolset for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Fifth Edition (5e)">
Because this line is present, Firefox provides the option to add D&D Beyond as a search engine. And when any user attempts to add it, the error message appears because the linked file is somehow invalid.

The message you're seeing is entirely a firefox message and nothing to do with D&D Beyond.
D&D Beyond has not added an opensearch.xml file to the site.
I'm not on the dev team, but I expect it's because that search functionality is old and is in the process of being removed from Firefox (reference).
