A homebrew monster I submitted recently was rejected with the note that the supplied image was subject to a copyright.
In fact, the image is from a Deviantart account where both the individual account and the particular image are tagged as free for any use and sharing. There is no way to provide this feedback anywhere I can find that is directly linked to the submission.
This just brings up other questions: what if I'm the artist? What if I want to share my own work? Do I need to take down my work on any other site because there is no way to contact the moderators to let them know it belongs to me? SO, I have to take it down so that mods don't reverse image search it, see my work elsewhere, and tell me I can't use it here?
This is extremely frustrating, and I'm already reconsidering purchasing the "legend pack" of materials because the site currently doesn't seem to have proper support channels as it is.
Am I dumb? Did I just totally miss the option to respond to my rejection notification?
Hi, ChromaticChocobo! Thanks for your post. The Homebrew system is new for all of us, so everyone is working out exactly how it works. While it is frustrating for you, it's also frustrating for the mods as well, as it doesn't work the way we would like it. A known issue is the rejection notification system. Say you submit something and it gets rejected for a copyrighted image. So you go and change the image, but also decide to change the text associated. Now that text is considered copyrighted material, so a mod rejects it again, with a different rejection notification. However, you only see the original rejection notice; copyrighted image. We are unable to properly convey what we intend with the system. The Devs are aware of this, and are currently working on a solution.
For now, if an issue arises, the best course of action is to PM a mod, and we can handle it. In your case, I would be happy to help you, if you want to shoot me a PM. I'm sorry that the system has cause you some frustration, and we hope to make it an easier process in the future.
Thanks, looking forward to a more robust system in the future. :) Already resubmitted with a diff image for now.
It sounds like everything is still in beta, so this might belong in the beta feedback forum instead of support, but a thing of note I came across is that the site rules listed for homebrew content is that copyrighted material is not allowed unless the the owner states that the material is specifically allowed on this site. Does that mean that content with tags like "free for any use" or "free for sharing" will still be rejected because it doesn't specifically state that it is allowed on this particular site?
The biggest issue we have is that art through Deviant Art falls under their copyright policy as well, which requires art to be linked back to the original image. We don't allow outside linking in Homebrew, so most of the time, we just reject anything we find that is hosted on Deviant Art. If a person owns that art and wants to use it, they need to PM and get permission to use it. This usually just entails a link to the original art, claiming that art as their own, and we accept it.

OK, so when I'm brave enough to use my own pieces, I think I'll just host somewhere else to avoid having to go through that process for each image.
Thanks!
