I noticed several threads in this forum can't be answered in a timely manner because of issues I will address below.
Things to do before/during bug reporting.
CHECk to see if your issue is actually a bug.
If you are having trouble with a specific subclass/race/item/etc check the pinned threads on the first page of bug forums for a thread on the sourcebook the content came from and read the first post to see if they have already made a statement on it.
For UA playtest content, this thread will be in UA forum.
Remember that a missing feature (e.g. temp effects like mage armor) is not a bug.
Optionally, you can do a forum search to see if another thread has been made about that bug.
For account and billing issues you should skip the forums and open a ticket with the support team by clicking "contact us" under "support" at the bottom of any page.
LINK any related pages and include specific details.
Copy the URL of the character sheet from the address bar of your browser (not the share link) and include that with your report.
If your issue is related to homebrew, do the same for that homebrew (it does not need to be published, and you should publish something buggy).
Optionally, you could also try recreating the bug on other characters with different settings to isolate and identify the cause and conditions and include those details.
Do these 2 things and the Moderators and community will be able to help you faster.
If anyone has suggested advice to give to would be bug reporters feel free to add. If a Mod wants to edit and/or pin this thread, please do.
Thread got bumped to second page and I immediately noticed some threads doing things I specifically covered here... So I am changing my allowance to pin to a request to pin (and edit to make look more official if needed).
Didn't see this but kinda follwed it. Years of forum activity in other forums paing off I guess. xD
I'd second pinning some kind of information on how to submit help and bug requests, but to be honest your top post here could be a bit better structured for fast and easy consumption. As I am sure most people that post bugs or need help don't really want to invest the time to find and read guidelines, even though it seemed to already have helped.
I tried to keep it as simple, but thorough as possible.
I'm just sick of 3 out of 5 threads in this forum having one of the same 2 first posts "this was already explained in X pinned thread," or "we can't help you unless you post a link to where the problem is." Most of the time, the error is between chair and keyboard, and I am just wanting to reduce how often that is the case.
