I hit this issues when creating a level 9 necromancer: Animate Dead spell does not show up in the spellbook automatically and I can not add it manually as well, it is simply mising from the list. The description for Undead Thralls states "At 6th level, you add the animate dead spell to your spellbook if it is not there already." (in my case, it was not), so I feel this is a bug.
I was setting up my Level 17 Necromancer's spellbook, and Animate Dead is not appearing in the spell list to add. I thought it might have automatically been added to my spellbook, since it is a class feature to automatically learn it if I don't already know it at Level 6. Alas, the spell appears nowhere on my character sheet. So this is a bug that needs some fixing.
Also, just doing the search to link to Animate Dead, I noticed the link to the first entry for the Player's Handbook is broken (https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/phb/spells#[Tooltip Not Found]). It takes you to the beginning of chapter 11 instead.
Has anyone else had this problem? I was importing my Lv 13 Necromancy Wizard into Beyond just now and couldn't add <spell>Animate Dead</spell> to my Spellbook. I thought it was just because of the 6th level Necromancy ability, however it's not there either for me to prepare.
Anyone else run into this? Anyone know a fix? Am I missing something?
This has been discussed before. It hasn't had any progress as far as I can tell but the temporary fix still works. Set level to 5 and animate dead will be available to add.
This was an issue that was reported a while back, but I guess it was never resolved. The temporary solution is to start your necromancer character entry at level 5, add Animate Dead to your spellbook, and then continue entry at your current level.
Using the Character Builder, I am working on a Level 20 Wizard (School of Necromancy). The 6th level feature for School of Necromancy is Undead Thralls, which adds Animate Dead to your spellbook if it isn't already there.
EDIT: Interestingly, other sections of the Character Builder recognize that it is (or should be) in your spellbook. For instance, when selecting the 20th level Signature Spells, Animate Dead is listed as an option.
If you build a wizard and select school of necromancy Animate Dead doesn't show up as a spell option. If you change schools it does show up but if you select School of Necromancy you don't have animate dead.

I have this same issue.

Just came to post about this but did a thread search first. It's still not being auto-added to the spellbook at 6th-level.
It should be fixed now.EDIT: There is still an error. Need to report this.
Same problem here. Please fix devs. :)
It's no where to be found but I swear it was there early. Not in spellbook or add spells and not sure why. Any one know why?
You only lose if you die. Any time else, there's opportunity for a come back.

Yes, there is still an error. Happened to me tonight.
I made a lvl 15 Necromancer and couldn't find Animate Dead either.

Under Add Spells, Animate Dead is not listed. Under Spellbook, Animate Dead is not listed.

This bug has been reported in several threads, dating back to the summer. Hopefully it's on the to-do list.
Until it is fixed the easiest way to work around is put the character at level 5, add the spell, and then level back to 20.
If you build a wizard and select school of necromancy Animate Dead doesn't show up as a spell option. If you change schools it does show up but if you select School of Necromancy you don't have animate dead.
There were 7 threads on this issue, so I have merged them.
