Should the extra variants from Volo's Guide have their own entries on the monster listing?
Specifically, I noticed that the Mind Flayer Arcanist and the Mind Flayer Lich have their own entries, but the Mind Flayer Psion does not have one.
For reference, the Mind Flayer Psion is on page 71 of the physical edition of Volo's Guide. There are also specific variants for Yuan-Ti Malisons on page 96.
I assume these are included with the compendium content for the digital purchase of Volo's Guide, but regardless they don't show up on the monster listing on their own. It might be that they don't count as standalone monsters (like the rocktopus example), but with the way the Arcanist is included it seems that the Psion should also be there.
I followed a link from Chapter 9 of "Out of the Abyss" to "Fire Snake", which got me the stats, but I wanted to read the description. It took me forever to figure out that it was under "Salamander"; even a global search was of little help. So maybe put a link to the Compendium info directly from the Monster stat page, and vice-versa?

I believe they're looking at a revamp of how things are presented so that it will all combine in one entry. Or something like that. It was technical. I didn't understand it. But they patted me on the back and reassured me that everything will be fine so I believed them.
Anyway of making certain monster types link info from various books?
My issue is when I'm looking for info. for "hags" (I've most of the source books including volos). Currently I have to open three different windows. One for bestiary info from MM, the second for info from volos and the third for the lore from volos. Is there a way of having this all under one "hag" search but separated into MM, Volo, Lore subsections or something. Wouldn't have even know that there was a lore page had I not accidentally found that one 1st when looking for "hag names".
Also when looking at the description of green hag it says:
"Covens. A green hag that is part of a coven (see the “Hag Covens” sidebar)". I can't seen any hyperlink or side bar to "hag covens". Does it mean the "hag covens" box a little up the page?
I don't know if this has been brought up before...
The monster listing could use more consistency in how the monsters are listed. Taking as is from the Monster Manual might not be the best; their implementation is a bit inconsistent.
Dragons are a good example:
Adult Black Dragon Black Dragon Wyrmling Young Black Dragon etc.
In this instance wouldn't it make more sense to make it:
Dragon, Black (Wyrmling) Dragon, Black (Young) etc.
This way all the dragons would show up in the same spot when scrolling through. They'd all be in a block. You'd display them in a consistent hierarchy from most general info (dragon) to most specific (age class.) This would work for other monsters, too. Giants come to mind.
You could still keep the title correct. I get why they went with Black Dragon Wyrmling as Wyrmling Black Dragon sounds awkward. I think aligning them might be worth considering, I find the list a bit frustrating to use and inconsistent.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. We have the concept of monster "grouping" on the roadmap - where all brass dragons would be a single entry in the list but display all the relevant age categories grouped together, and the same would go for groupings like hags, demons, angels, etc.
It should help with the issues you mention. I'm not sure when we'll be able to get to it, but it's not far down the list.
We've been advocating for making the site printer friendly for months. It's not getting better. It's actually getting WORSE as time goes on. I still have to copy-paste into Notepad, and then into Word, and then reformat everything to print a simple freakin' Gelatinous Cube. Try the PrintFriendly chrome extension. It can fix SOME of the problems Beyond has.
Hey D&D Beyond folks- we appreciate that your site is screen optimized, but if you're REALLY making a mobile app, it's more important to have the web version be print friendly than mobile friendly.

I'm not sure I've seen a major campaign to advocate making the site printer friendly, but I can share that we have improvements for monsters, spells, and magic items incoming in the short term. It should make things better for you.
I think you'll find that in trying to manage completely disparate priorities from different sections of the community, we won't always be able to get to "the thing" that you want to happen now. Rest assured that doesn't mean that we won't make it happen, just might not be immediately.
Not sure if this is a dead thread or what, but i'd love the ability to filter by monster abilities.. so for example all creatures that can cast charm person, or have a charm effect. Or those that can use pack tactics or the charge ability, etc.
'monstrosity' monster tag, when selected from the advanced filters list, does not show any entries. Top page icon for monstrosity is working. 'Armor' is listed as a monster tag filter and also has no entries listed.
I have a humble request. On monster listings, please keep "conditions" and "damage types" lower case. It has been a big headache explaining to freelance 3pp writers that the formatting seen on DND Beyond monsters is not correct, or at least not in line with the official material. Is that something that can be done? I am even willing to volunteer to put in the man hours to make it happen.

Ugh, yes, please, this. If you're going to emulate the PHB style, then, you know, actually emulate it.

The Rakshasa has no description in the Monster Listings. The Monster Manual passage should normally be added there, but I see it being a Basic Rules version, don’t know if it’s related.

Is this the right place to post a question about home brew monsters?

Any thoughts on adding the Variant monster options from Volo's Guide into the stat blocks from the Monsters Search? (i.e. Yuan-ti Malison variants)

There should be a "familiar variant" tag to indicate which creatures have a familiar variant rule available for them (Pseudodragons, Gazers, etc.)
