It may just be the fact it's 4 am when I'm posting this but I'm trying to make sure I'm understanding this right. D&D Beyond says a Forest Gnome Illusion Wizard only gets 4 cantrips, but I believe this is wrong and they should get 5.
Forest Gnome - Natural Illusionist
You know the minor illusion cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
Illusion Arcane Tradition - Improved Minor Illusion
When you choose this school at 2nd level, you learn the minor illusion cantrip. If you already know this cantrip, you learn a different wizard cantrip of your choice. The cantrip doesn’t count against your number of cantrips known. When you cast minor illusion, you can create both a sound and an image with a single casting of the spell.
Then include the 3 cantrips for a 2nd level Illusion Wizard.
So a Forest Gnome starts off they start with 4 cantrips, Minor Illusion plus whatever 3 cantrips are chosen. At level 2, when they take the Arcane Tradition for Illusion, it states that if you already know the cantrip you learn a different wizard cantrip of your choice and it doesn't count against the number of cantrips known.
One my character sheet I have the Natural Illusionist option shown below my spellbook, but when it comes to selecting cantrips I can only select up to 3 cantrips of my choice. Is that a bug or is that how it's intended to work?
Hi, my character is a forrest knome wizard and when I chose the illusionist school I ended up with Minor Illusion twize in my spell list and found no option to change this. As far as I know the Character sheet revamp has been rolled out already right? Any plans to change this behaviour?

Yes, we plan to revise our "spell modifier" system to allow for an open-ended choice plus a "default" or given option already chosen - similar to how skill proficiencies are handled in backgrounds.
This will take some time, but it is on the list. In the meantime, I know it is inconvenient, but you could receive another cantrip choice via a homebrew item or subrace change. I would be happy to get someone to help you more specifically for your character - feel free to private message if that helps.
Just following up on this issue. I'm currently making some NPCs and I came across this bug. Is there any update on changes for the "spell modifier" system yet?
Well, looks like I'm necroing this thread because I've ran into this exact issue. My spell list shows Minor Illusion (from Forest Gnome) and Improved Minor Illusion ( from school of illusion).
What to do?! Just add a homebrew cantrip to my character?
For the moment, yes, that is probably the best option. You could either add the extra cantrip (through a homebrew feat, e.g.), or else create a homebrew copy of either the Forest Gnome or School of Illusion and replace the cantrip granted for one of them. (I'd recommend the Forest Gnome, simply so that you remember the 'Improved' part granted by the School of Illusion!)

It is indeed a bug. This issue will be fixed with the upcoming character sheet revamp.
