I will add to the thread saying that having an "owned" and "unowned" filter for the marketplace would be good. It is currently not functional. If I can't easily find the books I don't own, I'm not going to go digging through each and every book individually to make up for their interesting design decisions.
It's incompetence in one way or another. Whether that's incompetence in making the mistake of not porting that functionality over or incompetence in thinking that deliberately excluding that functionality would get them more unethical sales rather than drive the people away who would have actually bought something. It's mind-boggling.
I am not sure if it is new, but when I go into view all sources: Sources - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com) all the purchased ones I have are listed in the thumbnails as being (In Library) and those I don't are not marked.
Aside from issues with Phandelver and The Radiant Citadel (I own both Phandelver and Below and The Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel which are the full books) everything is pretty obvious and simple to me. If it not legacy content I can click on it - it offers the option to purchase - which for those two noted above are a problem for me, but otherwise it seems like a 2nd option. I do like seeing the 'You own all the content' from the old marketplace - as it made it super easy to see what I had and what I didn't at a glance, but as more stuff slips into Legacy the main source page will probably be my go to.
Marketplace is hosed. Where is the small indicator that says I own the book appear? I see some people remark on it but I can't seem to find it. Sources is a bit better since it lists what is in the library but you have to drill into them to see the cost of items you may want to purchase. If you use marketplace, it doesn't show what is already in my library. Did they hire someone's kid to design this? It makes absolutely no sense.
I used to check about once a month to see what products I’m missing, it was the fastest way for me to figure out if something new dropped and if I wanted it. Since I’m the library for my D&D groups and pay the subscription to be such, I tend to have most things. They real screwed up by removing the filter, I now hesitate to buy anything and with how they are making everything constantly worse, I am starting to consider switching quitting D&D altogether.
This has slowed my purchase 'experience' down to where I'm not buying anything. I own enough of the items that it's not simple to remember what I don't own. I relied on the "You already own this" tag. Now it's just a jumble of products. I've bought one item since the changed format and I might have otherwise bought several. I'm with those who've said they'll wait. I've noticed they do pay attention to us. When the Paypal feature went down, the fixed that. My concern here, however, is that I see no moderators chiming in. They haven't answered anyone or made any comments. The silence is not a good sign.
Just noticed this and came to the forums to leave feedback. I saw this thread already exists and want to add my voice to the pile. We are trying to give you money, please do not make it difficult, it is a lose-lose for both the consumer and the company.
I went to the marketplace to look for new books to buy but couldn't filter out the ones I already own. I really can't be bothered clicking on each item to check so in the end I gave up and didn't buy anything.
While you can see what is in your library from Sources, if something you don't own is being shared with you, you can't redirect to the marketplace from there that I could see. You still have to go to the marketplace and search out the item separately.
When the marketplace did have a "You already own this" badge that showed up for anything you owned and there was a "You have it all!" replacement for the list when you've already purchased something, I was quick to purchase new stuff. It was easy. Look at the list, look for anything missing the "You own this product" badge, add to cart, checkout, done. Everything was mine once again! Capitalism once again successfully used my completionist urges against me, huzzah!
Not anymore.
Not only is there no way to see if you own the item before opening it, some products are missing the "You own this digital product". After poking around, it appears the already inconspicuous "You own this digital product" badge is not showing on some products while it is on others because of a coding error. The developer console in Chrome throws all sorts CORS errors that aren't present on the pages that do have the badge that prevent a bunch of scripts from actually functioning.
What's even worse is that it appears you can actually check out with a digital project you already own. I understand not disabling "Add to Cart", you could want to purchase it as a gift, but you should not be able to buy a digital product you already own from the service you bought it from. I can't confirm the actual outcome of pressing purchase, maybe they do have a final safety check in there, but I got to the "Place Order" button.
Hopefully they find the revenue has slowed enough to fix their interface. Amazing they don't have better acceptance testing or folks providing the requirements. I retire in September. I'd be willing to discuss some part time work with your company to help get better results. Been in IT developer and DBA for over 40 years and a gamer. I even have the old original paper back books along with most of the hardbound books before digital came along. Hit me up if interested.
Do they not want me to buy all the books? I can't see which ones I already own and don't own.
Then they removed PayPal? Guess they just want more of my personal information.
i just realised the filter for already owned is always on by default now. which is something... basically your library is what you should be looking at. to see your library. just click on sources at the top of the site. this will open yup your library with all the books. the ones you own will ave the blue library logo. meaning you own them. those who dont are what you should buy and clicking on them will take you to the market store.
as for Paypal, that is not their own volition. paypal itself removed itself from many websites for the purpose of security apparently. as an exemple, paypal is supposedly removing the ability to use debit cards now. so i'm guessing thats paypal fault, not beyond. i think paypal is changing to something completely awefull for reason unknown.
for the record, all this information i'm giving you is on the changelog page !

Again, marketplace does not show which books you already purchased. It's poorly designed that a person has to go to Sources screen to see the books they don't own and then click on a book which takes you to the marketplace screen. Then have to go the Sources screen, pick another unowned book, click that to go to marketplace screen to see a price. Very tedious and VERY poorly designed.
For my part, I'll probably not buy from D&D Beyond until they fix this. They haven't responded to the forums so it seems they simply don't care about the customers anymore. Guess Wizards of the Coast took over and decided to cut customer support staffing or something.
I can't see what books i own or not. I'm not willing to buy the new books, because i have no time to search a whole day for the 3 books i need and don't own...
I'm really disappointed that they haven't even posted a reply of any sort. That does give the vibe that WoTC may be letting D&D Beyond die on the vine. I don't get it but the lack of responses is deafening. Is WoTC trying to implement their own similar site so they can absorb the good stuff from DDB and then shut down DDB completely? A big issue is what happens to all our current content? I'm feeling like I may have made a mistake switching to this versus Fantasy Grounds.
To be fair if you think it's a problem, then own books on roll20, hard cover and Fantasy Grounds, then say HASBRO is an evil corporation devouring the souls because they haven't added another icon like a chest (similar to the heart) which can tag an item, I own.... Ohhh the woe, I must do it manually!! EVIL CORPS!!
You do realise, some of these EVIL CORPS are trying to pay people pensions when they want to retire and cannot work anymore. Most pension schemes are reliant on shares doing well in a stock market.
Honestly, I am not going to blame HASBRO if I buy a book I already own, and honestly, it's not that difficult to have two tabs open, go to sources and search "library" then scroll through the marketplace.
Marketplace needs to let me only show content I don't own.
That's it, that's the post. I just want to see the stuff in the marketplace I don't already own. It used to do that, now it doesn't. I have to go into each individual item to see if I own it or not if I haven't been keeping up with the new releases. I have memory problems too, so i can't remember everything I have.

I Agree with you, BradBeyond, the silence is deafening.

Very eloquently put. Reposting this so we can perpetuate this to more readers.
