I have a character in my campaign that looks like a half-elf, but isn't. However, the selected race is plainly visible in the campaign overview for all players.
Is there an option to hide (all ) character details (except for name and picture) from the other players?
If not, is it possible to add it? Right now, adding her character to dndbeyond would mean a mayor spoiler.....
its 2018 and I still really want a feature for DM's to be able to create custom items and characters without the players seeing them on the campaign menu. Please do this!!
Agreed. Also perhaps the ability to hide characters until revealed? Say I have a new player joining and they want to keep their character secret, or someone makes a backup character, or I add an NPC with a full charcater sheet. The ability to hide and reveal them would be awesome.
I have a Changling that always appears as a half elf until the narrative is fit for me to reveal this to my party and not being able to hide my character race from anyone else in the campaign is a going to be a big deal breaker. Please add a feature for this. I don't really understand how it hasn't been a part of DnDBeyond all along honestly.
Yes, I'm in a PBP campaign here and one of the characters is a genasi, but doesn't know it and wished that his sheet was able to either hide his race or appear as human.
On the Home tab of the Character creation pare, at the bottom is an Option to make the character Public or Private. If I am reading this right, this is what you want.
When set to Private, only the DM and the owner of the character can see its details.

Private makes it to where they cannot view your character sheet. It doesn't stop anyone from viewing your character's picture, class, race, and level.
Something DnDBeyond might want to incorporate into the character builder is the ability to either 'Customize' the race name (extremely useful for Changelings and Disguses. This might be incorporated into the Disguise kit item itself and/or into the Changeling race.

A solution I found was creating a homebrew version of the race and renaming it.
That's what I was thinking. Copying the changeling race, then renaming it to tiefling for example. That way you would appear as a tiefling and then the only way people would know is if they click on your character sheet. To my knowledge does private only limit like backstory and things like that, or is it the whole page?
Tried creating a homebrew copy of a certain race and renaming it, but I get this warning message: "Remember, private homebrew is automatically shared with other users in your campaigns and does not need to be shared with the community for players to access."
Anyone know exactly what it means that it's "automatically shared with other users in my campaign"? ...or if there's a setting to prevent that? I'm new to dndbeyond, trying to make sure I don't misstep here - if my players happen upon this, it would be disappointing to spoil it for the player. I'd prefer to go all or nothing on party management with dndbeyond, so if I can't find a solution for this it'd probably minimize our use of the platform.
It means that if you are the Master tier subscriber to D&D beyond and you create a campaign, others have the option to choose that race. That's all that means. If you're not a subscriber, then it should not affect you.

Be prepared to lose gracefully.

Actually not. The race is still visible
