So checking my bank account my subscription renewed. But I never got an email weeks before telling me this
I usually find that companies that silently auto-renew (even if there was a checkbox opting in to this) are shady.
I am totally happy to renew and would have anyway - but I really would appreciate an email 14 days before for example. $54 dollars could make a difference to some peoples budget and is not a trivial amount to take out 1 year later at an unknown date.
I had the opposite problem. My subscription didn't auto renew, it just cancelled; likewise, with no warning. The first I knew about it was when my players noticed they couldn't access any of the extra content any more. I've renewed it manually now, but some communication would be appreciated in the future.
While it would be good to have notification it's your job to keep track of your finances. Pretty much every computer or mobile/cell phone made within the last decade has a built in calendar with option to create reminders even a year in advance. It's not shady for a company to expect you to pay attention to what you are paying when especially when it is incredibly easy to do so.

That may be true, but it would not hurt if they added such a thing. I get a reminder when I have a dentist appointment. There are reasons why they do it. For its natural and common for people not to keep track of things.

Mine got _cancelled_ as of January, despite being billed annually and paid up through July. Same _zero_ notification shenanigans.
