I currently use the platform to run my campaigns and I really appreciate the available tools, especially the maps, tokens, and character sheet integration.
However, I feel that a dynamic vision system is missing — similar to what other VTT platforms offer — where the map is automatically revealed as a character moves, respecting individual vision limits (such as darkvision range, walls blocking sight, and other obstacles).
At the moment, map reveal must be handled manually by the Dungeon Master, which makes exploration less immersive and more labor-intensive. An automated line-of-sight system with dynamic fog of war per character would greatly enhance immersion and tactical gameplay.
I would like to know if there are any plans to implement this functionality in the future or if it is currently in development.
Thank you for the great work on the platform, and I look forward to any updates regarding this feature.
would love this feature as well, erasing parts of the map manually is time-consuming, and of course, there are different view ranges for characters as well as the type of vision they have.
Frankly surprised this feature is not in the works for 2026 based on the recent timeline. I have players who love to explore every inch of a battle map, and dynamic lighting would help so much with immersion.
The team has said that they will only tackle this if they find a way to do it that is simple and straightforward to use. Many of us enjoy maps for its simplicity and because its close to in person play. If I want to fiddle with dynamic lighting settings there are other VTTs that let me do that, personally I really like the manual fog of war erasing.
