The update syncing between the character sheet in maps and the full character sheet is a little rough. The changelog notes:
Changes made on your full Character Sheet—like adjusting HP, equipping items, or casting spells—will automatically show up in Maps, so everything stays in sync while you play.
This is true, if you update something on your full character sheet, it forces a full refresh of the character sheet in maps, which is a disruptive and high friction way to have those changes flow through. However, if you update something in the maps character sheet there is no mechanism for triggering an update in the full character sheet, so "everything stays in sync while you play" doesn't entirely seem to happen.
Ideally these open character sheets would have a smoother way to update specific properties and values when something is changed on another instance of the same sheet.
