I was going to write a comment to this thread, but the more I wrote, the more I figured it would be more helpful as a separate feedback thread.
Having started a campaign with new players, one of which is a Wizard, I would like to see a small redesign to how Wizards add spells to the character sheet. Very much appreciate the Staff are working through recoding the Character Builder so I don't know how likely this is to be implemented, but I'm hoping there is a small chance it could be introduced! 🧙♂️
It can be a bit confusing for newcomers to add their spells appropriately to their Character Sheet via the Character Builder and, even as a seasoned veteran, I have to keep manual notes of all the spells that I've added because of how it's possible to accidently add too many Learned Spells from the current character sheet, or forget what was learned and when (spoiler contains an edited example of one of my Wizard characters).
I also noticed the Evocation Savant feature is added to the Character Builder under 1. Class with the option to pick 2 spells from the drop down list as expected, but only at Level 3. Beyond Level 3, this is something left for the player to track; I have quickly double checked and there is the potential to accidentally 'double add' spells from the Prepared Spells section which are already learned via the Savant feature.
To streamline this process and to make it easier to manage Wizard Spells in the Character Builder, what I would like to see is:
1). Separate Trackers
In the Character Builder under 1 Class, it would be helpful to have separate trackers in the Add Spells dropdown - one for Spells that become 'Known' through Leveling Up as normal, one for 'Learned' Spells gained through adventuring or other means (e.g. Spell Scrolls) and one for Prepared Spells that the Wizard chooses at the end of a Long Rest.
Effectively you end up with 3 clickable boxes in the Character Builder Spells section - Known Spells, Learned Spells and Prepared Spells.
This would ensure that your Known Spells do not exceed more than you would normally gain like the other classes, but also prevent you from duplicating spells gained from...
2). Savant Spells
Whilst this is added at Level 3, it would be great to see selectable spells from drop down lists added for when gain the Character gains access to a new level of spell slots in the Wizard class (Level 5, Level 7, Level 9, Level 11, Level 13, Level 15 and Level 17). As Spells are selected, they then become unavailable from the Add Spells dropdown.
3). Character Sheet Spell Source
It's very helpful that, on the Character Sheet, it shows the source of where the Spell comes from (e.g. Elven Lineage Spells, Magic Initiate Cleric, Sorcerer).
Nowhere near as important as the first two requests which I think are hugely needed, but what would be another great thing to see would be the Spell Tag showing which Wizard spells have been Learned from adventuring or other means. They could have the 'Learned' tag to avoid being confused with the 'Known' spells from levelling up and the 'Prepared' spells that the Wizard chooses at the end of a Long Rest. It would look something like this on the Character Sheet:
