The title says it all. It's pretty crappy to put things in the PHB behind a separate pay wall, I bought the book give me all the damn content in the damn book! This is BS!
I'm a little confused though - I just checked and you have access to both Drow and Forest Gnomes from your purchase. They aren't something you need to purchase in addition to the Player's Handbook.
It is possible that your browser has the link to your content cached, which can be fixed fairly easily, by clearing your browser's cache.
If this is not something that you are familiar with, you can find useful guides here on how to do this for most current browsers.
If, after clearing your browser cache, you are still unable to access content that you have purchased, please contact the support team, who will be able to assist you further.
Notes: Updated response, as I misunderstood the nature of the issue
Here is a character I 've created. When I choose create new, the only options I have for Gnome, is Rock and Deep, and for Elf I only have Eladrin, High and Wood. I feel like I'm missing much more in the character creator than this now that I look at it closely. I don't see options for Furbolg, or Minotaur or warforged either, despite telling the creator to show all, even homebrew and ebberon.
The Plot thickens, when I load a character that is already complete (like the one from the link) and edit it and select change race, they are all there, but if I try to start from scratch my options are very limited.
Try opening an "Incognito Window", "Private Window", or "InPrivate Window" (depending on which browser you use). See this page for instructions on how to do that for each of the major Windows browsers, or this page for instructions for Safari. From that private browser window, log into D&D Beyond and try to create a new character. If the options are there, it's almost certainly a cache issue, and you'll need to at least clear the D&D Beyond items from your cache, if not clear the whole cache.
Incognito didn't work. I'll try to clear the cached and see if that helps. I also tried Edge, a browser I've never used for beyond, and get the same thing.
Yes I cleared the cache in chrome and edge, then just for grins I went to the site a freshly installed laptop, a laptop that had never been to a single website before, and the same results occur.
The devs have been dealing with a character sheet issue that cropped up as part of the creatures deployment - hopefully someone will be able to take a look for you tomorrow.

I have the book on the website. Why would I expect my physical book that I bought years before D&D Beyond was a thing,to come with some sort of tie in to the web service (sure that would be cool, but an utter pain in the ass to implement)

Sorry, it was a fair question you gotta cover your bases. My buddy is sharing the PHB content with my group, we all pitched him some cash. I can look at all the stuff, by clicking on races and if making an unassigned character things show up as they should but from the character builder link they aren't there. Maybe that link doesn't take shared content into account? It used to. Sorry for being a snippy dick, I was just annoyed at the whole thing.
So, when content sharing, only characters created via a join link for the campaign or unassigned characters in the campaign will have access to shared content.
If you just go straight to the character builder, you'll only have access to content you've personally purchased.

Hi there Xallin,
First off, thank you for your purchase!

Turns out I have access to them, but they aren't available to use in the character creation tool. What gives?![]()
That's very odd - they should absolutely be there.
Could you provide a link to a character you have created here please, so I can take a look at the options available?

The only way I can get all the options on a new character is if the character is "unassigned"

Xallin,
A couple of clarifying questions:
It appears that Mulg is part of a campaign. Does that campaign have content sharing enabled?
You mentioned buying the PHB yourself. Did you buy it through the DDB web site or through the DDB mobile app?

That very much sounds like a browser cache issue.
Were you able to clear the cache (instructions in my post above)?

I see on that sheet that you have both the Forest Gnome and the Dark Elf.
Xallin,
Did you buy the PHB on the DDB website or the DDB mobile app? Or when you say you bought it, you mean you bought the physical book?

Just had to double check. We get asked that a lot.
Do you have multiple Twitch accounts? I don’t see a license for the PHB under the Xallin account.
