Character Randomization Source Toggles BEFORE Randomizing
My players love randomizing characters for campaigns to keep things interesting and avoid some min/maxing. With the new PHB out, we'd like to switch over to using the new rules/spells/etc., rather than the now "legacy" options. However, when randomizing characters, the option to toggle legacy options, along with expanded rules/partnered content, to "off" does not appear until AFTER the character has already been randomized. Meaning that even though I uncheck the legacy option and do not want the outdated rules to apply, my randomized high elf wizard, for example, could (not always going to happen but in most cases I have tried) still have legacy spells, species features, etc. To avoid this, the toggle could be placed on the same pre-randomize page where you choose the level, class, species, allow feats, and multiclassing. There is an option to show or not show legacy content on the species drop down menu on that page, but I don't believe it actually filters the legacy content out in the randomization process based on the attempts I have made, and my players and I would prefer that the toggle applies to the whole character sheet, rather than just the species.
I don't know how many other people use random characters as much as we do haha, but I'd be curious to hear anyone else's thoughts on this. Not a super big deal, but kind of annoying to have to go into the character sheet after the fact to update the things that were randomized as the legacy versions when my players don't want to use those rules anymore.
D&D beyond, why can I sort my homebrew creations by type with advanced filters but I can't sort my homebrew collection by the same filters??
It makes no sense. I want to be able to filter my collection even more than I filter my own creations because I have more of those.
This has been aggravating for years and there have been no plans to solve anything.
Not that I'm surprised since D&D beyond is only focused on making it easier for people to spend money, not for fixing any actual issues with the website anymore.
And just like everything else, this post is going to get lost in the ether of other frustrated people who are never going to be heard.
Because D&D beyond is willing to take the website down to re-upload content that is already been out for the last 4 years under a new name so that people can buy another $180 worth of books.
But not to help anyone with the shit running of their own website.
Day “I never started counting but it’s to many already” since 2024 was forced on the community and we still don’t have the feature to fix DnDbeyond mistake. Give us the option to turn off 6th edition and play proper 5th edition until the time that WE your consumers choose to want to use the skippable edition.
I would love to be able to add spells or abilities to any character so in my campaign when our lighting dragonborn fighter learns a lighting spell for flavor reasons its not impossible to do. I can never figure out how to add outside class spells.
Oh! and a really cool feature would be to be able to buy things like races, or classes without having to buy the whole book for no reason. is that a feature?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack

Request: Make custom backgrounds for characters allow you to select the origin feat you want directly, instead of a list of the other backgrounds for the feat. I don't want to keep flipping back pages to know which is which, just give the feat as the option.
Partnered Content should be toggled OFF by default rather than ON. As you say under Partnered Content "This content should be used only at your DM's discretion." Few DMs will want ALL unlocked partened content turned ON for a campaign. As more content becomes available, making them all available by default makes the character options overwhelming for many players. (Not to mention balance issues, sadly, for many of these spells, items, etc.)
For custom homebrew backgrounds based on the 2024 PHB, please allow an option to choose ANY Origin Feat (including homebrew feats). This is already a very popular house rule for DMs that don't like a specific feat being tied to a background.
Having poked around the system for a looong while, I would say that it would be really nice if class features that are capable of being toggled for use (like a Barbarian Rage for instance) could actually be used to modify things (like the damage on an attack for the aforementioned Rage feature). Sure, this can be worked around using home brew (I have made an equipable “Mage Armor” item for Wizards in my groups for instance) but it would be handy if this was provided naturally instead.
Can we just turn some things off??? With the update and scores of books, there's just way too much.
Can we please get some kind of option to TOGGLE the 2024 update? For example when searching for rules or a spell, it is infuriating to find two or three versions of anything you're looking for. I understand you're in "marketing phase" right now, but given the recent changes to the website, it's becoming an unusable, disorganized, chaotic mess.
Also, to echo an above post, since we can no longer purchase individual items from content and have to purchase the entire book, can we have an option to turn certain features off? For example, I'd like to use the changeling species in my campaign, but have no desire to have dragonmark content clouding up every character-build I attempt. Can we just turn it off?
Give choice to toggle 2024 crap off and actually allow enjoy game and content i paid for instead blackmailing -you will move to 2024 or you see doublespells forever
When making homebrew items - Allow us to use 2014 base items for our homebrew! Or at least let us modify it. I don't want the 2024 "weapons mastery" stuff stuck on all my homebrew stuff. It's making things very confusing for my game since we aren't switching. Give me an option to get rid of the "weapons mastery"!
Please can we toggle off 2024 ruleset for a character? It's really annoying trying to use D&D beyond right now for a character in the 2014 ruleset, with there being duplicates for everything there is way too much to scroll through. Given that we're able to toggle off "legacy" content I see no reason why we can't also toggle 2024 content, unless the aim is to actively disincentivize people from using the 2014 ruleset, which I hope isn't the case becuase that'd be not very cool.
I haven't purchased the 2024 Player's Handbook on DDB, but I'm still getting the free "Core Rules" in a privileged position at the top of every screen, and the 2014 legacy options I want to use shoved all the way down to the bottom, even below supplementary content from other sourcebooks. I'd like to request a drop-down with the options "Prefer 2024" (current order), "Prefer 2014" (place 2014 core legacy options at top, followed by sourcebooks, followed by 2024 core) and "2014 Only" (2014 core legacy options at top, followed by sourcebooks, no 2024 core). I don't plan to use the 2024 character creation rules, and trying to create a character using 2014 rules is an incredibly cumbersome process at the moment.

We need an option in the Home tab in character creation which rulesets the character uses.
There has to be a way to disable the 2024 version somehow.
Currently you can only disable Legacy one.

I can't use the updated spells as an Artificer. Can you add that?

This used to be a thing, but isn't anymore.
Please let us toggle off 2024 content for the whole campaign !
If not, then at least for each character.
1. Toggle off all 5.24 stuff. Not interested.
3. Make spells and class abilities actually work: Mage Armor, Rage, Enhance Ability, etc.

As many have already said. TURN OFF/ON 2024 rules option! Prioritize this please! DND Beyond is a nightmare to use right now.
