This is the perfect opportunity to finally create something like this. Something user-friendly and D&D specific. Nothing crazy, something either like Skyrim or Heromachine. Sucks to have to use platforms like Heromachine that simply don't have D&D specific options.
It would be cool to have a portrait creator where you can choose your different facial features and hair style, but I'd also like to have the option to import an image of your own creation for your characters portrait too.
I love heroforge, bought a dwarven paladin with a trident from them. But yeah... I think just the fact you had to suggest that shows how badly we need something that's just user-friendly and d&d specific. In my opinion, Skyrim did it best, but they just don't have the same races (and, obvs, whatever version they create here would also need equipment and stuff).
I do not know if it is okay to post this here, and I apologize if it is not.. but I came across this thread and I have created a Character Portrait creator, which is in Early Access on Steam right now.
The software lets you puzzle together a portrait and manipulate the parts, with the end result of a hand drawn like portrait.
The software is called "Portrait Wizard", and even tho there is still much more I am going to add to the software, it is already proficient to create a wide variety of character portraits... pretty much an infinite amount of different portraits.

Again, if it is bad etiquette to plug my software here I apologize!
I just saw this as I’m on the hunt for something exactly like it. Do you have any plans on expanding to MacOS (or iOS)? The biggest downfall of being an Apple user is how poorly MacOS gets supported. From what I understand, iOS is much more worthwhile to develop for, but I have no doubt that the transition between Windows and iOS is a major hurtle to overcome.

I would be so down.
Hell yeah I am going to Polymorph the boss into a Rabbit. I have always wanted a being a pure evil stuffed into a ball of fluff.

You mean when the character sheet comes out? For sure!
You could use https://www.heroforge.com/ and color it using Krita or GIMP if you're good enough or maybe pay someone to color it for you.
This would be an amazing addition.
As for the hero forge thing.. We would be better off just commissioning somebody to draw our portrait at that point.

Agreed! In the meantime, r/characterdrawing is pretty great!
We do bones, motherf***ker!
Import custom picture option please :)
That would be soooooo AWSOME!

Wow man...this is really really cool! Great work. I just purchased on STEAM! I hope you get some customers!
No. Too much work. I demand a partnership with Order of the Stick (Giant in the playground) and have about a billion of his drawings available :D
Yarg!
Playtesting Fugare Draconis, an epic tale of adventure, loss, and redemption
I already draw myself but for those who don't a generator would be cool.
I want an option to uplaod character images, too, please.
This would be so dope!
i require this
I like it :)
I like to create stuff, and always appreciate any feedback given to help improve the things i make.
I'm in big time
