So me and my friends are running a campaign with variant encumbrance rules. We came across a nonexisting item that had to be put into inventory by "Add Custom Item" option. Problem is, the weight of the item is 0.5 lbs, but the system only allows whole numbers. Same goes with the price.
I think I've mentioned this bug/missing feature some time ago (maybe someone else did and I just commented on it).
Yeah, what gives? Many, many objects cost less than 1 gold or weigh less than 1 pound. The weight is slightly less of a concern than the cost, but both need added.
I'd also appreciate this getting fixed, as my woodcarver/blacksmith character frequently has various creations/ammunition pieces lying about that aren't currently being added to his weight.
Full agreement here. My half orc barbarian is carrying a tavern's sign, a simple 15 lb painted wood plank with no real use, but that 15 lb is an important enough weight to track!

You can. This bug report is about not being able to use decimals to track values less than 1. 15 is greater than 1.

Nope sorry but I cannot.
In Equipment tab:
- Adding an item through "Add Items", all normal equipment doesn't allow a custom description for the items. Heck, trade goods and trinkets aren't even there in the list.
- Adding an item through '"Other Possessions", *all* of your "other" items have to share a *single* text box, with no way to specify the weight of each.
If I misssed something then please tell me *step by step* which button to click.
Below your Inventory (which you can collapse if it's expanded by clicking on the grey header line) there's a section called Custom Items. Expand that.
Click '+ Add Custom Item.'
This will create 'Unidentified Item 1.' Click on it to edit it.
Once it's in focus in the sidebar, clicking the edit button near the top will enable you to assign a cost (in GP), a weight (in lbs) (note both of these must be in whole numbers), name, notes, and description. You can also increate the quantity or delete the item.

Any news on this bug? Apparently is not fixed yet.

Thanks but I found out what the problem was.
The problem is that in the "ANVIL Character Builder" mode, that functionality just isn't there!
We have to access this functinality through the "VIEW Character Sheet" mode instead.
As I was creating a new PC for the 2st time on Beyond, I kind of got stuck there.
Thanks anyway!
It's kind of crazy that this still hasn't been fixed. Seems like the functionality is there, it just isn't enabled for custom items.
This should be fixed and combined with https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/32080-custom-items-do-not-support-decimal-values-for
This bug still isn't repaired.

A year after last poster, its STILL not fixed. What gives?
haha, and it's still there... so sad. 5 years and no luck :(
Going on 6 years and this bug is still not fixed, but thank goodness they rushed to force the 2024 rules into everything!
Glad I'm not subscribed, so at least I'm not paying for the incompetence.
