Now how do we get access to rulebooks on more than two devices without a subscription? I bought the rulebook. I should be able to put it where ever I want to. 2 devices is far too limiting for a digital item that costs as much as the hardback copy.

Based off this post by BadEye it is because Wizards of the Coast says that is the way it needs to be.
The short answer is no. It could change in the future but I don't expect it to. A brief summary is that D&D Beyond is owned by Curse which is a different company than WOTC. Also, it could be difficult to prove ownership of books sold in the past. The links below link to threads that have discussed this in depth. I hope I was clear in my explanation.
So..I was just sitting here watching CritcalRole, and thinking about how this could be done, and I think I came up with something that 'might' work?
Add an unlock prompt to the compendium purchase option. And then you get prompted for a serial number or something typical to match the book...and THEN, it comes up with another window/popup. In that random popup, you could prompt with a random, 'What's on this page?' sort of thing. If you make it random each time, that will make it a LOT harder for people to just walk into a store and write stuff down without actually buying the book. I realize this may require some HTML-mancy, but I figured I would share my idea. Worst that can happen is that it doesn't work, or isn't explored :)

I don't think it is really that much harder. The books aren't wrapped or anything and with the ease of mobile use, it wouldn't take any time at all to unlock the book. Someone could be in and out of Barnes and Noble in 5 minutes even with that system.
Basically, add book to cart and prep before you go in the store. Walk to the book in the store, grab it to pretend you are interested while starting the checkout process on your phone. You have the book readily available to look at any page.
Additionally, you could unlock the book that your friend owns. There is no way to prove that you own the book, just that you have one in front of you.
One thing that people obviously don't understand is that no matter what system is used (well, aside from that one where your destroy your book and send it in to have it activated...), there is no unique identifier in the current books, so they'd have to make it something going forward and it would do nothing for most of the people complaining

I'm not really disagreeing with you, but what devices do you want to put it on? Phone, tablet +...?
So I bought some Pieces of Xanathar's guide to everything(the subclasses), and everything looks great, but I cant seem to find the new Warlock Invocations. I'd understand if they were to be purchased separately from the subclasses, but there is no option. Anyway we can add them to one of the categories/ give them their own category?
Hartless commented on this in another thread. Basically, they aren't really tied to a subclass or any other partial purchase but rather to the source itself. To see it in the listings page you would have to buy the book. Not saying this is right or wrong but just thought I would share so people could understand why it is that way currently.

I own an iPad, a Google Pixel C, and iPhone 6S, and a work issued Android phone. Would be nice to have it everywhere.
Oh, and that pesky offline access on desktop also would be nice.
It could be a random code generated on a receipt, or even mailing some kind of proof-of-purchase... ughh, I just wish I could have the books AND the SAME content on the site!
It just doesn't make sense for people to have to buy the same thing twice. Obviously nothing is easy, but in my mind it just doesn't make sense. I can understand why this would be difficult and may not ever be solved... I just feel like there is an opportunity there, is all.
I think the only real way this could happen is if WotC themselves (via some reseller) make available a deal where you could purchase both a hardcover book and access to that book on D&D Beyond in one transaction. However this would be detrimental to local game stores. Alternatively they could introduce a gift-card-like system where a code is added to hardcover books in a covered form, and those books would be more expensive than normal ones to cover the unlocking on D&D Beyond. Either way it's WotC that needs to initiate something like this, and in the end it will never apply to existing items and you'll still be paying more anyway.

This has been discussed extensively in a couple of other pinned threads. Look them up for the full discussion (all 25 pages, lol). In short, it MIGHT be something that can happen in 6e, but it would disenfranchise a lot of people if they started it now. Also, I'm not convinced it would save you a great deal as licensing is only a small component in the total cost.

Like my previous response covered, this does NOT help already purchased books. There is a miniscule number of systems they could chose that would let people who already own a physical book to redeem a digital copy

Quick thought here, and I truly apologize if this has been addressed in the past:
I like tangibles. I like to thumb through pages of a reference manual or book. It makes me feel warm inside. But, I absolutely love this site!
Is there any way to buy the hardcovers and unlock that content on dndbeyond.com ?! That would be really awesome!

It's nothing really to do with technical limitations, more with the legal issues and what WotC will let them do.

I have another coupon code!!!! Whoo hoo! Thank you "Critical Roll" for an extra 25% off.
Grrrr... It won't let me use my coupon code to get the Legendary Bundle...

Can the CR code be applied retroactively to Mordenkainens since I already pre-ordered it?
