It was asked in a different thread what methods of payment would be accepted, asking specifically about PayPal. The response only addressed PayPal. Is there anyway a full listing of payment methods could be provided. Guessing you will take Visa, but not all websites take all credit cards, will you accept all credit cards? As a company under the Amazon umbrella, will Amazon credit be acceptable? Can my bank send you a monthly check? Can I swing by your office with cash in hand?
I don't have all those answers, but I do know that the Curse team had help from the Amazon team in designing the shopfront for D&D Beyond, so I would expect it to have plenty of options!

You do not need to pay any money to get the full experience of D&D. In fact, if this is your first time playing, I strongly, strongly, strongly discourage brand new players from spending money on this hobby and stick with just the Basic Rules/Standard Reference Document and a few other free stuff on Beyond.
The first reason is that brand new players will get absolutely overwhelmed with information overload if they get access to too many options. When I first started, my session zero lasted three long sessions long because I got the PHB and a few other books, and my players spent a lot of time reading about various options. I was a brand new GM and there were scheduling issues, but if I had just waited on my purchase and limited my options at first, I probably could have cut that down to two sessions.
The second reason is that D&D is NOT for everyone. Despite how fast the TTRPG industry is growing, it is still an extremely niche hobby that most people do not find fun at all. Instead of spending twenty to thirty bucks on a book that you might not even use in the future, I think a brand new player would be better off saving that money for something else. If you really want to spend money, spend it on food, snacks, and drinks instead from a nearby restaurant or business to help out your local economy. Out of my group of eleven friends including me, only half are willing to try the game and only half of that half remained to continue to play with me (so only about a quarter of my friends). My group of friends is already pretty nerdy and geeky, and if D&D got issues appealing to my group of friends, it is going to have even more issues appealing to a more general audience.
Google and Apple both require apps in their marketplace to use their payment systems.*
You have to go through the website to use PayPal.
* There have been lawsuits over this; I don't remember how that's changed things, but it's still very common not to have anything else even if it's technically allowed.
