I feel you should be able to do that. I know you can create a character to add but it would be nice to just add them to the campaign from the characters you already made.
You can do that, you just use your own invite link
There definitely should just be a button for it though. Using the link isn't hard, but it is far from intuitive or convenient.
Indeed, I had to have it explained to me as well, a dedicated button would be much better
