Unfortunately, they want to move away from physical books and promote digital while also not investing enough to make the digital experience reliable enough or effective enough to sustain that movement. They probably won't make this issue a priority any time soon.
I'm having this issue. I never really used dnd beyond character builder because I always thought it was ugly and not user friendly. Unfortunately the app that I did use doesn't seem to be updating with the new 2024 handbook which I want to use now so I'm stuck using dndbeyond. Plus wanted to share the book with friends and have to pay a sub to do that so I figured I may as well get my money's worth.
I still find the easiest solution is to copy your character after you make the changes. The copy has all the changes but remember to rename them or you end up with a character called "copy of copy of copy of copy of [Insert name here]" if you're not careful 😂.
@DND Beyond Dev Staff - please fix this issue!! It's killing my trust as a master subscriber in the app - and I'm the DM of several games using this app.....

For real. It's getting on my nerves now it's been a couple of days of constantly trying the work around and not working. Making the copy doesn't seem to fix it either now.
This is a new and pervasive issue. I would like to hear from Beyond D&D about when they are going to fix it. As a DM, my players use the app in game. If they add new magic items or spells, they need to be able to use those changes right away.
not to revive a post, but we are in april of 2025 now, and this is still an issue that hasnt been fixed

thankfully i have had a good patch for now. not had this issue for a bit an even when it showed the trick tend to fix it as a work around
Experiencing this still. Why is this still happening

That fixed it for me, thanks!
For me signing out and logging back in seemed to update it.
I don't understand why this continues to be an issue... OP was in February... so frustrating.

Anyways, this issue is lame and needs addressed.
Fwiw I found using the tool from a computer in browser has none of these issues. It's just the mobile app.
Obv an unsatisfying work around.
It's not letting me add note on the phone version of the website
A simple fix I found was going to your app settings and clearing the cache for D&D Beyond app. This fixed it right away.

Creating a character copy is truly the only easy solution it seems to work around this problem
They need to fix this
