Yeah I wasn't really sure what I was looking at. I just saw 4 books you could buy. Also if I do buy a book or an oath or whatever does the dm or other group need to have it if its just a class feature
If 1.) Your group is all organized on D&D Beyond campaign, 2.) someone in your group already owns the oath 3.) someone has a Master Tier subscription and has enabled content sharing, then everyone in that campaign can build characters within that campaign using the oath or any other player content.
Another thing to note, is while you can buy oaths piecemeal (one at a time) for most books I think you can just buy all the books "character classes" which costs a bit more, but is a lot cheaper per subclass than buying them one at a time.
The marketplace I think tries but is not always the most user friendly aspect of the site, and the community here is largely very generous is supporting new users deciding purchases so keep the questions coming if you want.

It also doesn't hurt to know that if you buy things piecemeal it's pretty granular -- if your subclass lets you cast certain specific spells, you don't get access to those spells by buying the subclass. You need to also buy or homebrew those spells, if they aren't from a free resource (the Basic Rules being the most common). I think there are only one or two Paladin spells that aren't free, but it's something to look out for.
can you send me a link to the single purchase for oath of ancients? i have tried EVERYTHING and i just cant find where the single purchases are. i know its supposed to be in the PHB but how to i just buy the oath? :'''')
They took away the option to buy individual parts of books back at the start of the year. You'll need to buy the full PHB now if you want the Oath of Ancients
thank you! i thought i was going insane not finding it!! but i now have a different problem: as i remembered i have already bought the single feature of oath of ancients when it was still possible, it also appears in my purchases, but NOT in my options when i have the character builder open. its weird bc i purchased a 4 oaths back then and only one of them appears as an option now (oath of watchers) and the others are like i never bought them. do you happen to know a fix to this?
Two things to check there. If you've bought the 2024 Players Hand Book then go to your account settings and check your entitlements are synced (if they're not you'll see an option to sync, if they are already there wont be anything) and if you haven't bought it and are trying to make a character using the old rules make sure you've chosen the right paladin. They've basically had to double up every class so on the creation screen you'll see all 12 classes for 2024 and then scroll down further you'll see them all repeated with 2014 next to the name. Ancients was updated in the new rules so the 2024 Paladin can only pull it from the new PHB but a 2014 Paladin can still use the 2014 version you previously bought
oh my god thaaaaaank you!!! i even emailed support for this and they sent me a whole big list of things i have to do like log in on other devices and incognito mode and clear cache and coockies but nothing helped and now i just tried doing what you said and it IS actually because i had clicked the 2024 paladin and all my oaths are saved with the 2014 version. I was going to almost cry bc i am playing a one shot next week and really need it to work so BIG thank you to you!! :)
ps. were there big changes made to the oath of ancients with the 2024 version? :)
Happy to help, you're far from the first on here making the same mistake and I doubt you'll be the last. As for the changes there isn't too much, a few changes of wording really, apart from the the new Ancient doesn't have the Turn The Faithless channel divinity but gets a couple of extra spells instead

you can buy the oaths on their own or get them by buying the books. [REDACTED]

There's true wisdom in knowing one's self. ;)
nothingbutcold covered the essentials, but here's a list of currently available oaths and their source:
Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
Wow thank you :)
Might be worth noting a couple of other things:
