For my setting, a Dragon's color or metal does not dictate their nature. There are good and evil Chromatic Dragons and good and evil Metalic Dragons. And no two good or bad dragons of the same breed are alike. While they have the same breathe, lairs, horde the same treasures, and incubate their eggs as their book versions, those are the only things each individual breed has in common. Apart from that though, every individual dragon has their own views, likes and dislikes. Some good dragons are brave defenders of goodness and justice. If a cause is just, these dragons will often fight alongside heroic armies in wars against evil. Others are pacifists, preferring to take the roles of teachers, guides, parents, or just yearn for friends in their lonely lives. These dragons only kill for food(unless they can digest plants or otherwise), and devote their lives to giving advice and wisdom to individuals who seek a dragon's knowledge, or for raising wyrmlings and orphaned children, or even befriending humanoids. Sometimes a good dragon can have a bit of all these traits.
Evil dragons in this setting are also show differences. While some are greedy hoarders and destroyers, others are tyrants, manipulators, and sometimes even servants to evil beings. The usual kinds of evil dragons.
