I'm having a tough time coming up with the name for a spell and would like some help! What it does is it requires enemies making spell attacks on the user to roll a d4 (or multiple d4s depending on the upcasted level) and reducing the spell attack by that value, thus lowering the chance that the spell will hit. You could imagine that, with enough upcasting, the spell attack from the enemy would be zero or close to it which is the point. It's basically Shield if the spell lasted more than a turn, took up an Action to cast, applied only to magic attacks, and can be upcast.
Essentially I'm making it harder for mages to land their spells on the user. I want a name that references that. One example that gravitates to me is the Mage Slayer which is a neat little package of abilities that all point to hurting magic casters' potential.
Perhaps something like Arcane Repulsion. I would be tempted to call it Arcane Deflection but im pretty sure thats already the name of a subclass feature for the War Magic wizard

Consider affecting spell DCs as well, since as mentioned Bane already does this and there aren't that many spells that use attack rolls. And I probably would make upcasting affect more targets rather than completely shutting down spellcasting.
Along that line, you could just take counterspell and have it readied at all the times like many MTG blue flash/control decks that are averse to casting anything on their own turns.
Scatterbraind, yeah making it a spell save DC increase may just be the ticket as it would further distinguish itself from Bane while encompassing all magic attacks INCLUDING the beneficial ones from allies which would add an interesting spice to situational combat. I like adding concentration to it, too.

You are describing bane, a first level spell in the PHB, with easily exploitable unbalancing power added on to it with your upcasting variant.
[Spellcaster's] Oppressive Grip (if it requires concentration, which it damn well should with such a potent effect)
Arcane Suppression
Mana Throttle
Arcane Denial

Personally I would call it BANE, but that's just me.

I ended up taking a lot of inspiration from the Abjuration school of magic when I chose the name Protection from Magic. Here it is:
