Hey all! I just purchased my badge for this year's GenCon. It will be my first time going. I went to DragonCon in Atlanta last year, but this year I wanted to attend something more focused on gaming.
Anyone from the community here planning on going?
Any plans for the DDB staff to go and host any panels or events?
I used to go to GenCon, but will probably not be going back anytime soon with WotC pretty much abandoning the conference. However, It's great if you want to go and get a feel for the entire tabletop and RPG market. For me, it became too expensive and crowded, and the D&D experience was loud and frustrating with over-crowded tables. I've personally migrated to smaller cons like Winter Fantasy (http://wintfan.baldmangames.com/).
I went last year for the first time (I'd always wanted to go, and finally made it happen!) - and I LOVED it for the table-top nerdery. But yeah, don't go for D&D. It really just wasn't there. I was very disappointed by that, but still had enough fun that I'm planning on going again this year.

I might be going not sure if ill have the time off though, dicussed going with a member of my group.
I'll be going and running some games. Not D&D, though. I recommend taking the opportunity to try out some different games.
