With Fizban's coming out, I am once more faced with the dilemma: Do I buy the book now or do I wait? Here's my reasoning for both:
Preorder: Those sweet preorder perks that I've started to collect. Also, rest easy knowing I don't have to worry about buying it later.
Wait: There's a very good chance they'll offer a discount code as soon as the book drops, just like they did with VRGtR, which means it will be cheaper.
What are the hivemind's thoughts on the situation?
Pre-ordering and waiting are not mutually exclusive. You can still pre-order stuff later right up until a book is released. In my opinion, it is not too difficult to just wait and check the site a few times a week to see if a sale comes up.

Usually they are. IIRC, the sale (as happened for VRGtR) only becomes active after the book is released and the preorder perks are no longer available.

There are sales for pre-orders, its why I picked up VRGtR, and I remember a bunch of people complaining over CM as they pre-ordered as soon as it was announced and a few weeks later there was a sale.
I would wait for a sale and pre-order then, as Gamma said you can pre-order until its released, so there is no harm in waiting a few weeks

They usually are not mutually exclusive. There was a sale during VRGTR's pre-order; in my order history, I bought mine for $19.12. Most of my pre-orders were during sales and/or had discount codes.

Honestly that is what I do. Though this time I'm waiting on 3 of them.

In my opinion. Never preorder anything digital.

^^^ Seconded.
WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
