Prepared level 20 wizards have so many contingencies that it's pretty much impossible to kill them. And even then they have spells like forcecage that make all the martial classes irrelevant in pvp, not to mention the utility they bring to the table.
Countercharm comes at the same level as another Bard Feature - Extra Attack, Magical Secrets, etc. Things that are usually a major benefit on their own, and its right after getting level 3 magic. Its a classic bard ability, so they couldn't leave it out, but its not meant to be OMG AWESOME when paired with things that are actually very awesome. Its just gravy on top of everything else that's awesome.
Valor Bards are rather decent, especially when you start hitting level 10 and steal Smites and the ranger's Bow spells. At which point, they're very much NOT suck, but rather turn out to be very powerful. In either case, though, Lore far and away makes up for any perceived problems with the melee bard. Lore is just that good. Same with Glamour. If you're going to pick on subclasses, at least pick on Whispers and Blade.
Bards get PWK because they're supposed to have the whole Words of Creation theme going on, coupled with the whole enchanter vibe bards got going on. And bards in certain other games have song that can kill people too. Lots of reasons.
Druids are pretty flexible between full access to spells that can heal, buff, damage, and help travel, as well as the ability to wildshape, cast from wildshape, as well as taking on some very strong forms (if Moon druid) that even if felled, can just be brought back up on a subsequent turn endlessly at level 20.
Maybe not the strongest in a specific area, but their adaptability I think is very powerful.
Yes, bards are superior, besides the preparing spells mechanic.
well it is much harder to remove the spells directly from the mind of an bard than it is to burn or steal or otherwise destroy the spell book of an wizard, and the breath of spells an bard is capable of with magical secrets is truly incredible

Level 20 Moon Druids are undoubtedly the most powerful subclass overall, but the main thread is for classes overall.

Well, you can't unprepare Wizard's spells from their mind either.
